OMG and the local police blotter. Those were some good stories, complete with names & addresses.

As I was clearing out my house of 30+ years and unwrapping stored tchotchkes, it was really fun to read old pages from @theonion.com, @isthmusmadison.bsky.social, and the other local papers from way back when. Yes, The Onion was local to Madison waaay back in the day.

Sure, the newspaper informed. But as it fades, those who used it for other things must adjust, too The lurch in the media business has changed America over the last two decades. Experts agree democracy is different.

I used to keep the Sunday comics all year and wrap the kids' solstice presents in them. Now it's hard to find enough spare newsprint to keep near the wood stove and, you know, in the shitter.
