Over the last week, several large Saharan dust plumes exited the coast of West Africa, entering the skies over the Atlantic Ocean.

On June 4, 2025, a particularly robust, comma-shaped plume began its transatlantic journey (1/3).

On this first official day of the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season, attribution science of the Climate Shift Index shows unseasonably hot sea surface temperatures are made as much as 50 to 100 times MORE likely due to human-caused climate change.
