I’m so torn. I HATE hate hate that the Dems caved. But we also can’t live off my paycheck alone and my husband wasn’t getting paid. No good answer to this on personal level. But we know this is all just going to happen again at the end of January anyway.

A panoramic 35mm film photograph of a desert landscape in the American Southwest. There is a vast, fairly flat area of red dirt punctuated by small shrubs and large, angular sandstone buttes and monoliths. A clear blue sky is overhead. The edges of the film with the sprockets holes can be seen.

Wow. But also not surprising? Let’s take a stand against kids having food. Those 8-year-old freeloaders need to earn their lunches.

This SNAP drama just keeps getting more and more vile.

A panoramic film photo of a gray and tan badlands landscape. The sprocket holes are visible, with the image covering the entire film area to all edges. On the left there is a light burn, a near solid yellow-cream color obliterating whatever was in that part of the image. On the right it appears the beginning edge of the next image is encroaching, no space between.

I love first-of-the-roll weirdnesses like this. Some light burn, some overlap.

Thank you. And that is absolutely true about having to see it in person.

I’ve only been to Sedona once and the trip was extremely short so I’d love to go back one day. It really was stunning.

Blue-hour film photograph of a deep and wide canyon with a dirt road winding along the bottom in dusky darkness. In the distance, snow-capped mountains contrast with the near rugged red canyon walls. The sun is already below the horizon, so the sky is a dull, pale blue and hazy pale pink.

#Evening in Canyonlands, 2016. Despite being underexposed and having a little bit of camera shake, I still love this image because it reminds me of my favorite place on earth.

Photograph of a cream colored and slight iridescent ammonite lit by studio light and positioned on a black background. The ammonite has been professionally prepared, left partially attached to the gray matrix which serves as a base.

Hey hey #FossilFriday . A beautiful Discoscaphites conradi from the Fox Hills Formation (Upper Cretaceous) of South Dakota. Not pictured: on the opposite side is nice partial Sphenodiscus. Personal collection, my own photo.

I mean, if a tire company can make an award for restaurants . . .

but I’m also pretty sure the standards for the Michelin stars are more rigorous than whatever criteria FIFA will be using to award Trump his knock-off peace prize.

Polaroid photo of a decorative metal armadillo surrounded by decorative metal cacti. The back of the armadillo is painted with the TX flag. The metal cacti are green; one is a saguaro and one is a prickly pear. There are two smaller metal bluebonnet sculptures as well. The pieces are displayed in a dirt lot with old buildings in the distant background.

Last of this series. The halfway point along #Route66 is Adrian, TX. Most people know about the MidPoint Cafe, but recently I also spotted this decorative armadillo there in its glorious Texas coat.

If sandwich guy wins, somebody should make a statue of him throwing a sandwich at one of the confederate statues.

I don’t often think of using the Polaroid for abstracts or detail shots, but it often works out well for those. These are colorful bricks adorning the side of the Motel Safari on Route 66.

The lack of a hard date is telling. This admin thrives on stalling, so without a set date, they will let it lapse until a judge notices their ruling hasn’t been followed. Then everyone will be dragged back to court where the DOJ will argue they’re obeying (vaguely) and not in contempt.

Photograph of Caddo Lake State Park, looking out across Saw Mill Pond. The water is very still and large cypress trees rise from the water. The leaves on the trees are red and orange, contrasting with their gray trunks. A blue sky can be seen near the top of the frame, and lily pads can be seen scattered across the water at the bottom of the frame.

I don’t really have a lot of good options for today’s #BlueSkyArtShow theme of #autumn , but I did find one I took two years ago at Caddo Lake. Also a clear departure from all the film I’ve been shooting recently.
