Today is the deadline for EU countries to publish maps of the areas that are required for renewable energy & grid infrastructure to meet their 2030 targets.

National Nature Restoration plans are due by Sept 2026.
We need both to be coordinated.

Last year, the EU challenged the UK’s decision to close sandeel fishing in English and Scottish waters of the North Sea.

Sandeels are small, but they’re a key food source for #Puffins, Kittiwakes, and many other seabirds.

This proposal sets a dangerous precedent. If we cull species we perceive as competition, who’s next? Seals? Otters? Herons?

Let’s fix our broken ecosystems instead of scapegoating wildlife.

We need restoration, not extermination.

Cormorants are a protected species under the EU Birds Directive.

👉 The new plan blames Cormorants for fish stock declines, but science shows that overfishing, pollution, habitat destruction & river barriers are at fault. Not birds doing what they’ve always done: eat fish.

Today, EIFAAC (part of FAO) dropped its draft European Cormorant “Management” Plan, and it’s grim. What’s in it?

Coordinated culling and oiling are among the suggested measures.

Random targets. No end goal. No clear metrics. Just killing.
