Such sad news...
08.04.2025 19:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Latest ITT statistics are somewhat positive, with most secondary subjects - especially shortage ones - recruiting better than last year. Primary down a smidge, English down due to bursary cut
But majority still likely to be below target (this is last year's targets: new actuals out next month)
Number 5 is everything!
An outstanding summary of what works in professional learning from the brilliant @jimknight99.bsky.social
Every leader should read this:

NFER's 2025 annual report on the teacher labour market is out today
- Postgrad ITT recruitment remains persistently poor
- Teacher leaving rates have not improved since pre-Covid

Now listening to Marc Rowland, talking about the impact of low income on children and their families at the @schoolsnortheast.bsky.social Curriculum Conference. Very interesting.
18.02.2025 11:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Now listening to David Didau keynote at the @schoolsnortheast.bsky.social Curriculum Conference, using some interesting optical illusions to highlight how our brains interpret information depends upon how we look at it - open-mindedness and curiosity help us to see things differently.

18.02.2025 09:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It would have been interesting to see plans for implementation and risk assessment. I've seen one version from a local authority that was promoting one of these interventions in all its schools as a universal intervention for all pupils. Seems rather indiscriminate...
