Will cattle producers be exempt from NT weed plan? Cattle producers support the NT's draft buffel grass weed management plan, but it has attracted criticism from traditional owners and environmental groups.

Reductio ad absurdum proof of industry capture. Cattle producers are the source of buffel grass.

US mining company Alcoa hit with โ€˜unprecedentedโ€™ $55m penalty for illegal clearing of WA jarrah forests Environment minister says Alcoa cleared known habitat of protected species to enable bauxite mining

This is not bringing the jarrah forest back.

$55m for an unprecedented EPCA Act decision that mining the third most abundant element in the Earthโ€™s crust is in the national interest.

We thought conserving unique northern jarrah forest was.

If the NT gets its way the Barkly will look like a Texan dead zone with its never ending centre pivots and fracking wells (see last photo).

This same area is subject to 10GL/yr groundwater licences (free) and massive clearing for cotton.

So, in summary, we know that colonialist billionaires are an invasive weed in Australia and elsewhere in the world, which impacts biodiversity, culture and fire regimes.

Along with our government.
Every cattle owning billionaire funds the cattlemen's association, who lobby for their interests.

Glyphosate isnโ€™t the only issue.

The larger question is what a chemical-dependent agricultural system does to soils, biodiversity, microbial life, resistance, and long-term resilience.

Debate framed as โ€œban it or use nastier pesticidesโ€ misses the deeper problem: dependence itself.

"The LNP were effectively giving Queensland's coal to Adani for free."

After the LNP abandoned a court case against Adani over unpaid coal royalties, it looks pretty dodgy that the data shows they received over half a million dollars in donations from Adani.

Yes. Pastoral industry rogue in the NT where VRD is located. Land clearing always approved by self serving Pastoral Lands Board without carbon offsets, moving into cotton and water mining, doing us over on buffel grass & ex NTCA president David Connolly next NT Administrator!

Buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris) eradication in arid central Australia enhances native plant diversity and increases seed resources for granivores Buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris L.) is a drought-adapted invasive plant of arid and semi-arid grassland and woodland systems globally. This research demonstrates that buffel grass removal at localise...

We also know that if you can eradicate buffel grass in arid Australia, you get a return of the native understorey plants and provide much more seed for granivorous (seed-eating) native fauna such as ants, birds and small mammals:

Unfortunately environmental health, especially when it comes to the natural environment, doesnโ€™t seem to be their focus.

It has been backed by Trump and Rinehart โ€” but where is the Arafura mine? It is the Central Australian mine promised to help upset China's dominance of the rare earths market worldwide, and bring hundreds of jobs to Australia. But where is it?

Funny how Government ministers defend complexity in financial decisions but not environmental or social considerations.

โ€œProjects of this scale and strategic importance involve complex and time-consuming financing processes," Gerard Maley, NT Mining Minister.
