I used to think so positively about @albomp.bsky.social , but that was before he became PM. Mea Culpa, how wrong I was! Is he doing ANYTHING for the benefit of Oz?

Truly insane to put basic public health policy in the hands of local councillors. Abdication of responsibility by the State Parliament. (Qld has about 75 LGAs and a whole lot of them have only a few thousand even a few hundred people living there.)

So to summarise: the Tas government bought two ships, that are years late, to run between Devonport and Geelong, but there is no wharf at all for them at Devonport because people forgot to build one and they can't safely use the wharf at Geelong.

Scott Morrison declares role with Saudi oil company When he was prime minister, Morrison appointed a Saudi fossil fuel firm's board member to two different taskforce roles in 2019 and 2022.

The purchase and infrastructure for these ships has been a fiasco from start to finish. And we're probably not finished yet!

Another Chinese car brand just weeks away from Australia | Drive GAC is set to become the 16th Chinese brand currently on sale in Australia, launching with three models initially.

I think we've all lost track of how many Chinese EV brands there are in Australia. The trouble is that the market isn't big enough to support so many. Some folk will find themselves with a new'ish vehicle that's no longer supported!

Why Santos is behind your soaring electricity and mortgage costs It was a primary force behind Australia’s inflationary surge, it’s forced businesses either to the wall or to shift offshore, undermined national industry policy and resulted in the loss of countless ...

We don’t have a gas shortage, we have a gas export problem. Santos are gaming the system and pushing up the price of gas paid by πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί households & industry.

We don’t need new projects, we need to reserve uncontracted export gas for πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί now!

Forrest-backed study links Woodside mega-project to hundreds of deaths The research, conducted by academics at ANU, suggests the massive offshore gas project off the coast of Western Australia will cause warming of 0.00039 degrees.

A new study published in Nature Climate Action finds Woodside’s Scarborough gas project could cause 100s of heat-related deaths & exposed 500k people to unprecedented heat.

Govt can’t claim climate leadership while approving projects like this.

The mood is ominous at CSIRO as jobs disappear β€˜by stealth’ – and staff are wondering who’s next National scientific agency has been β€˜reshaping its research portfolio’ to deal with an imminent funding cliff in 2024

This makes me very sad… especially as CSIRO’s Data61 has done some great work for the ACS. The move away from public good science is a sad one for Australia, right at the time we have never needed public good science more.

From our archives: May His Like Never Be Seen Again His type should never be seen again. Born from the dark well of swill and advertising, former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison was always the apotheosis of politics’ worst tendencies: shallow ...

Morrison "would go so far as to sell off Australian sovereignty for a song via the AUKUS security agreement promising nuclear powered submarines, leaving the Australian taxpayer in bondage to Washington for the next half-century."

As the Privacy Commissioner says - yes this social media age ban is likely to create a honeypot of data and the safest data is the data you don't collect. It's as simple as that.

Leo Puglisi from @6newsau.bsky.social gave evidence to the parliamentary inquiry on the social media age ban - I asked him about the real impacts on young people. This isn't about protection, it's about control. You can't lock kids out of news and social connection and call it safety.
