Always wild how a conservationist could ignore the incredible (And unsustainable) toll that data centers inflict. There isn't physically enough land on earth to cover with solar panels or windmills to keep them functioning when fossil fuels run out. Physical media will still be there after.

And lets be fair here: The data centers that make cloud servers possible use FAR more petrol than the printing of disc plastics or creation of hard drives have ever used. Every single data center has a massive fossil fuel reserve to supplant the drain on the power grid / mitigate outages.

I like IQAir, which confirms most of this. I was so excited to be outside today after all the heat.

I call it "average idiot". It's just an algorithm, albeit a complex one. The more it 'trains', the more it moves towards an average of everything consumed. The exponential creation of slop continuously degrades the baseline average. In some ways, that's the direct opposite of intelligence.

Is it me, or does it feel like destroying the credibility of top educational institutions is the underlying point here? It sure feels like it after watching the GOP defund and dismantle public education at every possible opportunity going back to Reagan. Educated masses are the enemy, after all.
