Earnest post: there is increasingly direct evidence that Trump participated in child sex trafficking or at least knew about it.

He should resign, be impeached and removed from office, and prosecuted.

Even if you don’t think that WILL happen it’s important to say publicly that it SHOULD happen.

You know a country by its values. By what a country values. And it turns out that what a country values can change over time. Sometimes, though, there’s a sort of cognitive delay between the country you think you are in, and the country you’ve actually become. For example, you can keep selling yourself, to foreigners, as the country of William Shakespeare and Jane Austen, and luring busloads of tourists to Stratford-upon-Avon and Bath, and put a statue of George Orwell in front of the BBC, and imagine yourself a cultured and literate nation, which the rest of the world admires for its devotion to the written word – but if you then chronically underfund your cultural institutions, and treat your cultural workers with contempt, many people will suspect you of being full of it. And as the decades pass – and fewer and fewer Shakespeares and Austens and Orwells emerge from your little island – even more people will begin to suspect that in truth you do not value culture at all, and are in fact running a giant heritage museum in which the only cultural workers you respect are the dead ones.

Great piece by Zadie Smith. When the right talks about classics or "Western" culture, these works are only important to the extent that it demonstrates their superiority, they have no interest in art in and of itself beyond that www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I would like to ask Mike Johnson if he thinks the Christian God will let him into Heaven after he devoted his considerable power to covering up a massive child sex trafficking ring just because he didn’t touch himself

i mean c’mon. the president’s best friend was the most notorious pedo in the country’s history who ran a massive child trafficking ring. every bit of circumstantial evidence we have says that trump was a participant. if this were a criminal trial we’d have enough evidence to compel a plea deal.

Alex Acosta got a cabinet position under Donald Trump for having done him a solid and gotten Epstein a sweetheart deal to keep him quiet.

Exclusive | Fannie Mae Watchdogs Probed How Pulte Obtained Mortgage Records of Key Democrats FHFA’s acting inspector general handed probe report to U.S. attorney office that had indicted New York Attorney General Letitia James

Seems clear that Pulte 1) broke the law while going on fishing expeditions for baseless mortgage fraud claims 2) immediately removed everyone who tried to investigate that wrong-doing.

Tragically realized this morning that my dog is MAGA:

-Scared of everything; acts like a hardo tough guy to compensate
-dependent on a system he doesn’t understand for basic survival
-begs for handouts constantly

I'll get back to "party unity" as soon as the Senate Minority Leader tells us if he voted for the Democratic party nominee for mayor of his city.

I'm tired of party unity only ever running one way.

This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

The Heritage Foundation likes to cast itself as an intellectual tower of conservative ideas and ideals . In practice, it's a refuge for insecure hacks who spend their days sweatily filing trivial complaints because a sign noted that someone other than a white dude helped with the group project
