One of his takes was that the Revolutionary Army was secretly evil and would eventually become an opposing force (because of course, their imagery is with communist revolutions) and that the Celestial Dragons and the World Government were probably misunderstanding and would be redeemable......

He was however very vocal on Twitter about his opinions of the story and what he thought was the political message of each plotline/arc. He trally wanted to become some sort of influencer. And boy was he absolutely deranged...

He was very proud to be doing official translation for the series (very understandable, I would too), and went on to participate on an episode of the One Piece Podcast and everything.

There was such a good example of this here in Brazil some years ago. When Mangaplus launched, they knew the One Piece and manga fanbase here is huge, so they hired a small translation company to do portuguese. The guy they put in charge of One Piece was a long time fan, according to himself.
