Want to drive change? Time your initiatives right. Pushing a major refactor during a tight feature sprint is like trying to change tires during a race. Context matters.
What happens if a companyโs engineering team suddenly becomes a LOT more productive: more story points shipped, self-reported 20-50% productivity increases after using GenAI tools (that the company pays for.) No HC change.

I got an ad like this from a real profile, though. It took me a while to understand that this is not addressed to me directly; it's a targeted ad. (esp. when my first glimpse was a mobile notification that didn't mention the sponsored bit)

I've been following the subtle demonisation of office friendships through the zeitgeist, and I'm left wondering.
I'm not saying people should adore their jobs and be besties with all their colleagues, but chances are your most significant work won't be done in isolation.
