custom mtg card: Soul-Searching Youth (1W) Legendary Enchantment — Background Commander creatures you own have "At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player may return target Aura from a graveyard to the battlefield attached to this creature. It's a Role in addition to its other types." (If you control another Role on it, put that one into the graveyard.)

this one is neat, i think!

recurring auras with valuable ETBs, opponents returning pacifism-style effects, toolkit auras (stuff like sheltered by ghost/cartouche of strength when you need it), plays like return vanishing -> phase out -> wrath, reattach/flicker auras to get around the role rule

very moving and really sad

kinda wanted to see more of them in their old age, the first chapter was *so* strong, but the reverse-chronological story worked really well imo!

okay i literally went 7 wins again the next draft by just stubbornly forcing boros...........

(god i love jitte, that card makes combat so fun!)

saw a post today that said you should literally just always force boros in the arena powered cube, so i did and got my first 7-win in the cube lol

i really loved this one! this is like, exactly the right length (20 chapters) for this kind of story!

fuuka was really fun as a romance "antagonist" and i actually really liked the vibes subaru brought to the story!

not a new game, but one i haven't played since 2017 (really since 2016) but i was feeling like playing an mmo, so i started again on a new character!

already 115h in now, got ascended gear, the event legendary gauntlets, doing fractals, just having a good time! :)

Hang On By a Thread (W) Instant Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped. It gains „At the beginning of each end step, if you didn‘t cast a spell this turn, exile this creature.“

struggling to figure out a way to make this fair, but I really love the idea of having to keep playing instants to keep your creature alive!

also really like that this plays differently in both commander (since there's way more turns), 60-card, and limited (less likely to have the instants)

A recipe for almond soup (hasu al-lawz): Wash a pot, fill it with clean water, and put it on the fire. Add white sugar, half the amount of water used. Add as well finely ground almonds, the amount of which is equal to that of sugar. When the soup is cooked, add crushed dried bread pith, 2 and almond oil. When you ladle it, the soup should be moist and runny (ratba) in consistency. It will do the sick person good, God willing.

Multipurpose Flicker (2U) Instant Exile target permanent, then return it to the battlefield under its owner's control. When that permanent enters, put a +1/+1 counter on it if it's a creature, put a charge counter on it if it's an artifact, put a loyalty counter on it if it's a planeswalker, put a lore counter on it if it's a saga, and put a defense counter on it if it's a battle.

one more, since i have this one lying around:

it's basically an overpriced planar incision, but with a ton of added utility! this is definitely more goofy than some of the other stuff in this thread, but i do think its neat!

Unexpected Promotion (1U) Instant Counter target creature spell. If a card was countered this way, put it into its owner's command zone. It becomes its owner's commander. (In addition to any other commanders) Exile Unexpected Promotion.

speaking of 1U counterspells (which is a category of spells i really like to begin with!) here's another one, part of a cycle of "make something a commander" cards!

love playing with mechanics like this is & I think this potentially making something a commander in a non-commander format is so fun!

Decimating Denial (1U) Instant Counter target spell. Return another target spell to its owner's hand.

this one is kind of a counterspell version of decimate in that it's a really powerful effect, but the amount of required targets makes it only situationally useful!

i think this one would allow for a lot of neat play patterns (like casting another instant just so you have a target)

Rabbit Hole Land {T}: Add {C}. {T}: Add one mana of any color. Spend this mana only to cast diminuitive creature spells. (Creatures are diminuitive if neither their power, toughness, nor mana value are greater than 1.)

Lost Souls' Refuge Land Lost Souls' Refuge enters the battlefield tapped unless a card was put into exile from anywhere this turn. {T}: Add {C}. {T}: Add one mana of any color among cards in exile. --- Sometimes, rarely, inexplicably, fragments of souls in the void amalgamate, forming fragile islands of life.

here's my compromise

i think having restrictions is fun (pauper is awesome, i love budget/themed brews!) but there's few enough hybrid cards (and they're generally weak enough) for this to only really affect 1/2-color decks, which *do* need any help they can get!

the way hybrid mana worked in edh was alway silly and didn't reflect the actual mechanical purpose of hybrid mana

i did not expect there to be so much passionate pushback to overhauling color identity rules wrt hybrid mana

i just really cannot think of a reason to be against the proposed reform other than "vibes"

- some details on the politics of the federation. how exactly are powers divided between the member worlds and the federation? how does federation democracy look like?
i think SA being set in the post-burn future is a great opportunity to build out the federation without getting into canon issues.
