From @torstenseemann.bsky.social at @pha4ge.bsky.social Conference; "We are stealing from research money to support public health."

We need dedicated funding for maintaining & supporting public health infrastructure & pipelines. Not just startup, not just in pandemics.

Lovely to be here in The Gambia - have had a fantastic couple of days doing training already with the ARTIC project; now for some discussions around public health genomics and cloud computing. Very pleased to have been able to help organise this and help set the scene this morning.

Pandemics need to be killed in the cradle. Even though we don’t know if these mutations make H5N1 a pandemic virus, we know they raise the potential risk. Eliminating viruses with human adaptive mutations and preventing further adaptation should be the absolute top priority.

Logitech MX mechanical and MX master mouse! Though depends slightly on hand size etc. Can’t go back to a non-mechanical keyboard now! Otherwise have a look at a gaming keyboard and mouse - as these are often quite customisable in terms of their ergonomics!

Have to say, the difference in scientists posting etc here vs most of what I seemed to get on my feed over there is quite stark. The exodus from the other place is quite noticeable now.
