Thanks to the 200ish committed souls who braved the terrible weather with us. We are all very wet but very inspired by the amazing union folks who shared their stories in the pouring rain.

I think a lot of women are afraid of dissauding others from having children. They probably also doubt their own feelings about motherhood due to all the gaslighting and judgement.

My Mom always said, "children are a lot of work." She did not glorify or sugarcoat motherhood. She never asked for grandchildren and never assumed she'd have them. She always told me it was a personal choice. I think she enjoys watching me live my life.

Capitalism and patriarchary are the major drivers of pronatalism right now. They want women at home raising children who will be cogs in the machine.

If our country took better care of its people, families would thrive, and motherhood might be a more appealing option.

Women cannot win no matter what they choose. I saw my Mom and other women do the hard work of motherhood, and I decided it was not the right path for me. I have been criticized by people, especially other women, for years because I chose to be childfree.

Now AI is being used to replace/offload those critical thinking skills. We should all be able to use our own brains to evaluate material and craft strong arguments. Critical thinking skills are valuable in every aspect of life.

The denigration of the humanities and liberal arts colleges suggests a desire to suppress the development of critical thinking skills. I don't know when this attitude toward higher education started, but it was very much a thing in the 1990s when I was in college.

The Dems have been tacking right since the 90s. Every time a conservative in my life screams "socialism" about something Democrats want to do, I point out that the Democratic Party would be a center-right party in a European country.

Congressman Andy Barr (R, KY-6) claims Musk is a "Special Government Employee with a top-secret security clearance, a designation extended by former President Joe Biden in 2022." He says, "His role does not require Senate confirmation or election." This is what they are telling their constituents.

In 2022 44 people died in the Eastern Kentucky floods. @jdvance1.bsky.social didn't show his face there.

I also wonder about the Judicial Branch and their loss of power. The statement from the American Bar Association indicates we could have some traction through legal channels in protecting our Constitution and democracy, but can SCOTUS be challenged?

I agree! We are in the middle of a coup, and the old rules just don't apply. I do keep wondering if our Republican congress critters will eventually bristle at their loss of power. What is the point of Congress if the Executive Branch is overriding everything?

They are posting daily summaries of actions they are taking on their Facebook page and here on Bluesky. I have seen them speaking at Indivisible protests in DC. Unfortunately, their power is limited, and nothing they do feels like enough. We all want more.

I miss hopescrolling when Kamala Harris first entered the race. I hope the pendulum swings back toward sanity.
