I convinced my boss today to have the company start donating to our local station.
Most people don't even know that funding for them was cut. And most people are for helping out general services in their community.
My bosses wife even worked for the station previously.

About time someone had the guts to confront the most pressing issue of the 2020s.

That was a really fun exhibit. I moderated a panel discussion in conjunction with it, with my mentor Marvin Carlson, playwright Paula Vogel, and director Rebecca Taichman - and incidental music with Lisa Gutkin (Klezmatics/Indecent) on violin. It was an absolute blast.

I share the critic's appreciation of Anne Trodden, whose Harper just shattered me. She captured all of the character's wit & sass as well as her deep fragility. Unforgettable performance.

We journeyed down from Milwaukee to see this the other day, and it was worth the trip. Wonderful to get to experience ANGELS in such an intimate space, and it features some strong performances. Powerful direction, and lighting and sound design cleverly accomplish many of the play's big effects.

I'll also put in a plug for the website built by the group Debra and I co-founded, which has a blog on many aspects of Yiddish theater, including many entries on early 20th-century NYC. Happy reading! 3/3

Thanks! Nahma Sandrow's Vagabond Stars is a popular history of Yiddish theater (including but not limited to the time & place you mention). It's a great read. My Shakespeare on the American Yiddish Stage is a scholarly work, but written for a broad audience. 1/3

Now I'm trying to imagine what feature would be more effective than this in stopping me from buying a Mercedes if I were ever to consider it. The only thing I can come up with is shit-scented seats.

Just bought this CD: artists giving voice in Yiddish to "grief, fury, and love" to the ongoing and ever-worsening genocide in Gaza. Proceeds go to Gaza Birds Singing — a musical, educational, and therapeutic project in Gaza.

Gonna need to tack right if they want to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

It's almost as if to a lot of people, the quality matters more than the quantity.

I realize the sensible thing to do when getting a call that's almost certainly spam is to let it go to vm - but am I the only person with enough middle school boy left in him to have to pick up and fuck with the callers every once in awhile? If not, when you do that, what do you say?
