Mayhem was gotten into.

What kind of mayhem are we getting into today?

Well, some of us appreciate your work.
"Illegitimis non carborundum", as Socrates so elegantly put it.
That is kind of the whole point of diceware passwords. Correct horse battery staple... easy to remember, hard to guess.

If your entire understanding of elephants is that they're horrible things that occasionally dump gallons of shit on innocent children, then you'll never be able to find common ground with people who admire their cleverness, like to ride them, and use them to do hard work.
20.10.2025 15:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nice essay by sociologist David Yamane.
Many non-gun-owners only ever think about the negative aspects of #guns.
He has likened it to the parable of the three blind men and the elephant. Many people's impressions of the gun elephant are informed entirely by a detailed examination of its anus.
This talk pulls together all of the threads of my work. If you wonder how it all fits together or how I see the way forward on guns, this video is for you. Or if you know someone looking for a liberal, pro-civility gun owner, this is a great start.

He's a puppet mouthpiece. A ventriloquist dummy. Nathalie Provost is the puppeteer. That's why she was standing right behind whenever he talked.
24.09.2025 01:31 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Conversely, one also wonders how long the left will maintain its reputation as unfriendly toward Second Amendment gun rights.
When Trump's brownshirts are kicking down your door at 4am, you might pause a moment to reflect on who has all the guns, and who thought the 2A was a quaint anachronism.
The only names there I recognize are Justin Bieber and Iggy Pop. Not particularly a fan of either of them.
But I have to express my admiration for Iggy Pop. Still has the testicular fortitude to propel that broken, abused, cadaverous body up on stage, take his shirt off, and sing Wild One. Legend.
A scene from Robert Redford's movie "All Is Lost". Caught in a heavy storm, a man desperately clings to the railing of his partially-capsized sailboat.
I haven't watched a lot of #RobertRedford 's movies. But I have to say, "All Is Lost" (2013) made an impression on me.
Just one guy, alone, on a sinking sailboat in the middle of the ocean. Barely a word of dialog in the entire film. But it was gripping.
Have to watch it again now.
Or maybe donate it to our local public library... where it will languish, undiscovered and unread.
Librarians are some of the staunchest defenders of free speech. Respect. But it's usually the "Right" that they're fending off. It will be a test when the call comes from inside their own house.
Sigh.
I actually bought two copies of your book. My thought was to put one of them in circulation somehow.
Perhaps in the "Little Library" box on our street. My concern is that some "cultured despiser" might see fit to throw it in the garbage, rather than risk anyone actually read it.
A black leather shoe, filled with shiny copper-jacketed bullets. Beside it, a package of Shoe Goo brand glue, and the bag the bullets came from, made by CamPro.
Sometimes bullets have uses you might not expect. Like applying even clamping force in a shoe while gluing the sole back on.
06.09.2025 04:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That is kind of perverse, considering that resisting the rise of a wannabe dictator like Trump is exactly why they have the 2nd Amendment down there.
Shouldn't they stay there and join the Resistance? There is large contingent of liberal-minded gun owners in the US that oppose Trump.
Based on crime stats, Warwick Cairns calculated that if you actually _wanted_ your kid to be abducted by a stranger, you would have to leave them outside, alone, for 750,000 years to reach a 50/50 chance of that happening.
And after the first 100,000 years, they aren't even cute anymore.
So... they gave you a licence to buy prohib firearms, because you convinced them that you have a legit interest in making educational videos with them. But then added so many restrictions that you can't actually produce the videos using those guns.
That's some peak Canada right there.
While we're talking about overwrought hysteria about exceptionally rare risks, it would be interesting to see a row added for "victim of mass shooting".
It'll be thinner than the "lightning" line. Maybe a lot thinner, depending how expansively you define "mass shooting".
This reminds me of a great quote from Dad of "Shit my Dad Says": "1st amendment doesn't protect assholes from criticism. The right to act like an asshole and be called an asshole's the same fucking right."

Civil asset forfeiture is a travesty of justice that should not exist in any society that has any pretensions of the rule of law.
If you think someone is guilty, prove it. If you can't prove it, fuck off.

The fact that it appears to be a Chinese-made phone with Trump branding is hardly surprising. I think the last cellphone that actually was manufactured in (North) America was the BlackBerry.

Mass murder: Stop the contagion: ignore them, and they'll go away. Or slow down, at least.
Gangs & suicide: I have no idea. Too hard for me.
Lumping all these things together into one big, scary statistic is completely unhelpful, unless your goal is simply to ban firearms.
