The health insurance industry isn't in the health care industry.

1) They provide no actual care

2) They don't care.

They're parasitic middlemen who have found a way to barnacle themselves onto the hull of the most inelastic demand service there is.

United CEO Andrew Witty gave an address to the company today (leaked to me), telling employees "we guard against...unnecessary care" and that "There are very few people in the history of the U. S. healthcare industry who had a bigger positive effect on American healthcare than Brian [Thompson]."

While I do not condone murder, as a victim of the totally dysfunctional insurance system in this country, I can understand the sentiment, and I won't be shedding any tears over the violent death of a man whose entire job is to deny lifesaving care from those who need it. Good fucking riddance. #FAFO

We owe six figures *WITH INSURANCE* for my wife's ongoing cancer treatment (2+ years). I can't count the number of hours we have spent cajoling her insurance company to cover their portion of treatment. Whatever the treatment's outcome is, we are going to be financially devastated for years to come.
