He closes his eyes. Hums quietly to find his voice. Imagines he is alone. That it is late at night. That there is a microphone hidden somewhere in the room. That out on the street, in an unmarked car, Ye Baiyi is secretly listening.

Last night, instead of sleeping, I figured out how he gets through this, and lay there staring through time and space for a while...
