I'm so sorry. I have to say December required a massive emotional readjustment after my mother passed. So be kind to yourself, and make time for food you especially love.

I am not a really festive person, largely because academic work here means working almost nonstop through December to get all the marking done and term grades filed on time, but a treat I always give myself is watching through all of Nigella's Christmas episodes: it's lovely vicarious festiveness.

I sometimes think stuffing is the best part of the feast though leftover stuffing heated up with leftover brussels sprouts is nothing to scoff at.

Probably no new photos today; the relative silence will continue as the work-related to do list just grows and grows, and the novel-revision impetus I recently found again diminishes correspondingly. (And frankly I don't think the novel is anything anyone would want in a vampire novel.)

I have no patience with people who don't like Brussels Sprouts.

If it's any comfort, I bruised my kneebone (MUCH more painful and damaging than it sounds) tripping over my desk at home (I would've been 60). But much younger than 50, I impaled my palm opening a bottle with a corkscrew and nearly took off a fingertip opening a tin (SO much blood in both cases).

Hey! I am of the generation when jumpers and leggings and boots were a uniform in our extended youth. And yes it is the Damned official festive jumper.

Amazingly, I own two, though one is a sweatshirt, black, with the Scrooge & Marley office door logo on it, and the other is very dark colours and says The Damned on it.

I sometimes feel so old by now that I think the wheel was invented after I was born.
