Actually had a fully formed idea for a story come to me in a dream 👀 always thought that was only a turn of phrase, as it's never actually happened to me before.

Bad news for my other current writing projects, but a good start to the day!

Keenly aware of who might be reading, I am grateful that the last experience was probably about as positive it could have been. Which is also why I can't say for certain that my career is over.

I'm just processing into the void I guess, 'cause otherwise I'll explode. 🤣

Tough day. I think changing my profile from "Freelance game designer" to "Background in Game and Narrative Design" really brought home what a roller coaster the last 9 months have been.

It's not acceptance that it's over. I don't think I can predict if it is anymore. I *am* tired though...

I struggle with survival games, but I really enjoyed the soundtrack to this game and how atmospheric it is from the get go. The intro sequence is awesome.

Is it passion? Is it masochism? I don't know. It feels increasingly like I'm sure I've still got more to give.

It sure would be nice if it could *not* be like this though. Just for a little bit. You know? Like... even a month or two, at this point.

At the start of September I think I was... 90% sure I was done with the industry because it felt like it was done with me.

As long as I'm still in the application process I'm in at the moment, though, I still keep feeling it drawing me back.

Err... Wut?! (But seriously, like... Come on!)

I am *really* looking forward to not being permanently tied to my email inbox again for a while... One day, I will learn more patience.

This really isn't the most exciting thing going on in my life right now, but it *is* what I'm allowed to talk about, so... Here we are 🤣

Aside from the fact that after a while they make me feel a little bit sick, I've decided this lunchtime that I also don't eat bananas out of spite for the fact they physically spoil other fruit...

I once thought about writing an article telling creatives to stop thinking of genre purely as a method of identifying their work and more as a toolbox to use to craft their works that essentially boiled down to "Genre is a mess, y'all."

Socialising a stray practically from scratch is the big 2026 project. This is Bixie, our new tortoise-shell. She has been adopted from a local charity who found her on the street earlier this month

We are 3 days in and hopeful that she is starting to feel a little more comfortable in her new home😊

What a strange year 2025 has been. My career has been a rollercoaster that is still ongoing, I moved back in with my parents (again), became an aunt and published another book. Weird to think it all happened in 365 days.

But now we go again! Happy New year everyone! May 2026 be awesome for you all.

Love watching my train slowly arrive later and later in the evening. At least I can think about storytelling while I wait.

It should be said that the character design and development for this series continues to rule. I love all of the new additions and returning favourites. It makes me slightly sad that it doesn't look like we're getting another Hades game for the time being. 😔

But where it really shines (apart from on Melinoë every night) is it's world-building. The lore of these two games is now immense and I find myself wanting to go back to it despite feeling a little burned. Add in mechanics that keep on giving and I *do* get the GotY nods. Not for me, but I get it.

So I've finally, finally finished Hades 2 main story (I still have one thread to pull on for a character)... What a weird but beautiful experience. Apart for one (pretty major, imo) trip up there is some really beautiful storytelling in this game and it's hammered a place into my heart... 1/2

I have a lot of thoughts about Dispatch. All positive. I kind of want to write an article about it but a) I don't know where to put them these days b) I'm not done with the first playthrough yet and c) I have absolutely no idea where to start at the moment.

Such a good game though. Really enjoying!

I had an absolutely amazing time going to see Linkin Park, supported by JPEGMAFIA and Spiritbox, at Wembley yesterday evening. A whole afternoon of great music, so many good new memories ☺️

I cannot state this strongly enough: If you are upset about the way this government is treating trans people and immigrants, and you have a Labour MP, for God sake write to them.

And just so we're extra clear, yes, this court case was backed and partially funded by JK.

Next time, buy a Terry Pratchett book.

Maybe actually talk to some trans people about the reality of the situation before lobbying the courts and governments to remove our protections without actually doing anything to fix yours next time. You never know, we might actually have some good advice for you. ✌️

Rosie Duffield, in her infinite wisdom, believes that trans women will not be affected by this at all because it is about women's rights to single-sex spaces.

The reality is this ruling is way more likely to negatively affect trans women than it is to positively affect cis women. 7/x
