I'd also probably not characterize any of this as biting -- JW has always been upfront about the pieces--especially jazz--that he channels. Case in point: he refers to the big Martian sonorities in ANH has his "Planets chords."

He also played on a couple Marty Paich albums. That said, I have no clue if he was familiar with this specific Art Pepper arrangement. Strikes me as a superficial resemblance compared to the Force Theme's more plausible sources, most notably Siegfried's leitmotif from the Ring:

I had the good fortunate to meet him 20 years ago at the Buddy Baker film scoring workshop at NYU. And chose one of the clips from his own Smallville to do a re-scoring exercise. He liked what I did and (I'll never forget) said "it's kind of old fashioned." It was. But his music is timeless to me.

Plus that miserable 5 minute runback everytime you want to change up your build a little. And whoever said backstab looping Jori was an *easy* cheese is a liar.

Neither the hardest nor most time-consuming boss from Elden Ring but my vote for the worst on an RL1. I *hated* this fight. Between the horrid summons, teleporting, animation locks after successfully dodging attacks, it drove me crazy. Even this win feels lousy b/c it was so random and unclean.

When a Star Wars TV show is more morally clear-eyed, more willing to call out genocide, than the entire rest of our media landscape.
