The argument that #AnnArbor and #a2council didn't do a damn thing to support the Center of the City completely ignores the investment of city resources in creating and supporting the Council of the Commons. As someone who gave time & energy as a member of that body, it's both baffling and offensive.

Bc I’ll dance believe me I will, but I also want to mourn, I want to reveal in my sadness sometimes. Maybe that’s not the call here tho & maybe I need another listen. While abracadabra felt like a protection spell from the beasts and the shadows, it’s still just you and me at the end of it all.

Mayhem Summary: dance beats that leaned hard into 70s and 80s energy, which I loved. My favorite parts - the soaring church choir vocals & duality/ alter ego motifs - could’ve honestly been much more prominent throughout. The call to dance and joy is so important but it also felt repetitive here

10. Don’t call tonight: it’s really good. All these songs are fully danceable. At this point in the album the strong theme we felt at the beginning seems less prominent, which isn’t really a negative. It doesn’t all have to be a Paris Paloma level of motif and messaging.

9.How Bad Do U Want Me: yay the cathedral chorus is back. Interestingly, this song is approved by both Enya and Taylor Swift.

8. LoveDrug: GaGa’s clear voice emerges to anchor us among all the 80s dance beats, has the catchiest hook so far, reminds us to dance until we feel better.

7. Zombieboy: we’re somewhere in the 1970s. Cig hanging from my mouth. In an Alternate reality I’m baking bread in the dust bowl. It’s about time we had a catchy spoken word hook.

6. killah: starts like “can I dance to this?” Ten seconds later: “OH SHE MEANT IT WHEN SHE SAID THE CATEGORY AND IS DANCE OR DIE BBY”

5. Vanish into you: dreamy 80s ballad Gaga is baaaaack. I see you Gaga I see you now. The vocals on this track are so beautiful. I can hear the desperation in her voice my god. Play this at my wedding/funeral

4. Perfect celebrity: this song might’ve been the soundtrack to the recurring dream I had as a tween that I was trapped on a conveyor belt that was disassembling my body.

4. Perfect celebrity: you say I love you, I disintegrate. LOVE. This song scratches an itch in my brain of music I loved in the 2000s. Almost frou frou vibes in a weird way.

3. Garden of Eden: a solid bop, it will grow on me. The cathedral choir style in the chorus is my favorite, can’t wait to see the other religious/spiritual/vvitchy motifs in this album.

2. Abracadabra: most instant classic song I’ve ever heard. I tried learning choreography- it’s so fast but I’m committed to getting it. Alter ego vibes going on in abracadabra and disease. Again makes me wonder who is the magic holder, who can cast the spell, cure the disease, & who has the power

1. Disease: dark club thumping crash out meltdown but hopeful. The music video starts with Gaga laying on the hood of a car, which feels like a commentary on capitalism and car infrastructure dependency. Who is the cure for our disease? Money, the promise of economic prosperity?
