After crumpling a page a hand begins to write a new letter. It reads: Lucardo, It was early Autumn, I had been the Night Count's scrivener for a year, and I was just shy of turning 61 when you confessed.

The same pale hands are cleaning a pen now. "I doubt you will be attending the ball alone. Will you spread the rumour you're still without a partner?" "Virke and Ana have surely already done so." Assures his companion across the desk. He has a much younger and darker complexion, and his hair is natural, and shortish in length that it splayed like a wildflower. "Then you just wait. Or why not go out and socialize for once." Ed continues. "I'm here, aren't I?" "Talking with your scribe, yes. You've been very interested in my services as of late." "You're easy to talk to." Lucardo claims, making Ed smile. "Thank you, Sir. Perhaps I could help with the search? You must have someone on your mind?" "... Maybe." Lucardo looks away with a bit of shyness. "Ah. I knew it. Shall I compose a letter?" He asks, not seeing the slightly frazzled look on the other's face as he looks to the paper.

Lucardo gets it together with a sheepish laugh. "Haha, okay." he gives in to the soft smile on Ed's face. "Uh, well... To the one whom I adore," Lucardo begins with a bit of fluster. "I don't know when it happened, but I've had my eyes on you for a while." Ed gets to writing. "Actually I can't stop thinking about you. You're so smart and driven. You're funny too, although sometimes without meaning to be. I find excuses just to visit you now. I... love to watch you at work, so meticulous, and you have this smile on your face when you look at me,-" Just that alone was bringing a fluster to Ed's face. His hand trembles a little as he doesn't want to make an error. But Lucardo continues. "I can't tell whether you're aware of what it does to me, if youre' treasing me under that kind appearance, or... or if you are just doing your work as my scribe." Ed's hand scrawls a small error on the page and he looks up, bright red and wondering if he heard that right.

One day, a scribe in his golden years is confessed to by his youthful-appearing employer of the Night Court. But being a mortal amongst the undead is a larger culture-shock for some than expected... 🌹

I got mad about AI so I made this comic about The Fucking Point of it all (1/7)

Carved in Stone is a comprehensive setting guide for early medieval Pictish society, and as such my work on it was wide and varied and included illustrating real artifacts, speculative penannular brooch designs, and even the animals that would have inhabited their world.

After losing one of my best friends to s*icide, it was a way of tackling that grief the best way I knew how & how I ultimately approach those who come and go in our lives.
