it was such an honor and an undertaking (some of the patterns on those stones!) to illustrate these moments and real historical artifacts, i can only hope that they stand up to scrutiny and even bring delight to those that have been studying this field for so long. thanks for having me!

Carved in Stone is a comprehensive setting guide for early medieval Pictish society, and as such my work on it was wide and varied and included illustrating real artifacts, speculative penannular brooch designs, and even the animals that would have inhabited their world.

An absolutely sumptuous feast of setting, lovingly crafted on every level, I feel so lucky that I could contribute some image work to this (alongside so many incredible other artists).

i ended up having a beautiful time with raghnall as my sort of homoerotic rival, but also i think it's really funny to read online about people who ended up not having anything with him because of the way dd2 works. i miss him
