I skipped the explanations of B2R and BF for now and went over to what is redirection and how to use it and why it's magical for evergreen links instead. At 7500 or so words now...
I'm not kidding when I say I've got published stories that are shorter than this 😂

But, also, this whole 'post keeps growing' thing is very on-brand for me and any additions I make to it come from years of talking to other authors and explaining UBL and other stuff to them. So, like, it does give a very good impression of what my posts will be like going forward 😂

Because you can go all-out with any UBL, but if you use the UBL link as-is and not a redirected evergreen link, then if you change UBL services (either between B2R or BF or your own website) then you'll still have to reformat all your ebooks for the new links. And that's not very future-proof.

I was originally only going to write about UBL, redirection and geo redirection, until I'd finished the intro and realised that to get the most out of the rest of the post, I needed to go into the why, what and how of evergreen links first, or there wouldn't be much 'future proofing' at all.

I haven't had the courage to watch that one, I know it's such a sad story. It did come out in my birth year.

When Ghibli made stills of their movies available on their blog at a high quality a few years ago, most of the ones I grabbed were from this movie. It has the most of what I love about Ghibli movies (great scene colours, lots of beautiful shots and scrumptious food).

Mine too. By far not my first (saw Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke first, and possibly one or two more), but Howl's my favourite. Also, as the eldest, so much of Sophie just speaks to me on a personal level 😂 Plus, the colours of the movie are so good.

Watching some Howl's Moving Castle in the early morning, I could listen to just the music and soundscape of this movie with the video (no voices) over and over. It's so stunning.
I guess this is a good way to relax before I dive back into my massive blog post on evergreen links and redirection...

What in the actual fuck? Googles AI basically hallucinated that I somehow accused my podcast host & close friend of toxic behavior & harassment - killing her channel. I often go into long periods of research (my current topic is digital accessibility focusing on websites and also ebooks) and then share that info in bits and pieces all over the place. Having a single location to put those thoughts would avoid me info-dumping on random people and still be helpful.

And then being able to give people that link so they not only get the resources but also why I found them useful or how they helped. That way, people can pick and choose what they feel will work for them, while still having a place where everything is collected for later potential reading.

Yes, this is also part of the reason I want to do it.
I often give the same advise to a lot of people and instead of having to send them the 10+ resources or inspiration elements that I based my process/thoughts on, it would be much more useful to have those things in a single organised place.

I've not done it yet because of deadlines and burnout and *world stuff* and an overwhelming sense of 'what should be my first post', but it's really high on my list of things I want to do the moment I have the brain space. Because stuff like that helped me in the past and I want to give forward.

Also just general stuff like step by step guides on how to format/publish, tips and tricks during writing that makes later steps in the self-publishing process easier and other questions I see lots of people run into no matter their brain type.

I have been playing with the idea of doing blog posts (probably on Substack) about (self-)publishing and general writing and story telling things from a neurodiverse perspective.
I've found that my style is a combination of much more rigid while also much more flexible than what I see most
