It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.

Marking this as graphic for the dead shrew. The puff adder was about the length of a brick, the shrew was almost bigger than it was.

And then as the snake started dragging the shrew into the bushes, the birds started going nuts and all landed in the bush above the snake, screaming at it.

Had drama in the garden this morning - my dad went out to feed the birds and Luna went out with him started sniffing at something my dad thought was a dead baby bird. But when he went to grab her, he realised it was a dead shrew, and there was a small puff adder right next to it.

You ever have a task where you like KNOW it's not going to take too long, but then end up procrastinating on that task just because you know it won't take too long, and it ends up taking the whole day? Today was one of those days for me.

Also this obviously wouldn't apply to everyone, especially in other places in the world that do a lot of trans-investigating, but I don't know. I've always been lucky that people don't really bother me much when I'm out in public.

I need at least 3 weeks worth of facial hair before people start tentatively calling me sir, so like. I definitely never needed to be self-conscious about being feminine back in the day.

Before transitioning, I hated shaving my legs but was self-conscious of showing my legs in public because I was worried people would make comments. Today I wore shorts out, all my clothes from the men's section, more leg hair than I ever had back then, and I still got called ma'am.

I don't feel the need to write a whole review on the movie. My main complaint is why is it so anti-wolf? I haven't read the book yet, but like. Surely the anti-wolf storyline could have been changed for modern times. Wolves are not cold hearted killers that just murder for fun.

I'm watching del Toro's Frankenstein, and all it's doing is making me want to rewatch Crimson Peak

Excerpt from a BBC article: ""We usually work, 10, 11 or 12 hours a day," says a 49-year-old woman from Jiangxi unwilling to give her name. "On Sundays we work around three hours less." She is in an alleyway, where a dozen people are huddled around a row of bulletin boards. They are reading the job ads on the board, while examining the stitching on a pair of chinos draped over it. This is Shein's supply chain. The factories are contracted to make clothes on order - some small, some big. If the chinos are a hit, orders will ramp up and so must production. Factories then hire temporary workers to meet the demand their permanent staff cannot fulfil. The migrant worker from Jiangxi is looking for a short-term contract - and the chinos are an option. "We earn so little. The cost of living is now so high," she says, adding that she hopes to make enough to send back to her two children who are living with their grandparents. "We get paid per piece," she explains. "It depends how difficult the item is. Something simple like a t-shirt is one-two yuan [less than a dollar] per piece and I can make around a dozen in an hour.""

The people who make Shein's clothes labor for ten to twelve hours per day (in violation of China's labor laws), some up to seven days a week, and earn as little as 15 to 30 cents per t-shirt.

Time to be STRESSED

And I only found out because my parents mentioned it off-handedly while out for breakfast this morning. Like?? No prior warning?? When Cape Town had water restrictions we had quite a lot of warning, this has just been sprung on me suddenly.

Found out today that the town I live in is at 27% filled dams and is set to run out of water in 17 days. So that's FUN. 🫠
