โ€˜Enough Is Enoughโ€™: Hundreds of Minnesota Businesses Take Stand Against ICE

I've covered a lot of protests and resistance movements of various kinds in my days on this earth -- I've never seen anything quite like this epic day in Minneapolis today.

Boston judge warns Trump officials on changing plaintiffsโ€™ immigration status The ruling from U.S. District Judge William Young follows a prior ruling in which he found the Trump administration violated the Constitution.

โ€œJudge Young affirmed unequivocally, without a doubt, that non-citizens lawfully present here in the US have the same free speech rights as everyone else. He established that the federal government clearly & unconstitutionally pursued a policy of discrimination against pro-Palestinian speech.โ€

โ€œEverybody Showed Upโ€: Stunning Crowds at Minnesota Day of Strike and Shutdown Against ICE Extreme cold didn't stop the shutdown on Friday as some 100 faith leaders were arrested, residents stayed home from work, and an estimated 50,000 or more marched through downtown Minneapolis.

I'm not one for false optimism. But what I witnessed today in Minneapolis was tremendous, both in scale and exuberance. It was a stunning answer to the federal assault on Minnesota, a show of solidarity that gives us something to hold on to during times that are unforgiving.

DHS ICE memo 1-21-26

Stop what youโ€™re doing and read this whistleblower report. ICE has been training its agents that they donโ€™t need a judicial warrant to break down your door - a blatant violation of the 4th Amendment. www.documentcloud.org/documents/26...

TODAY IN MINNESOTA: Hundreds of thousands marched through Minneapolis in -10ยฐF, shutting down the city to demand ICE the fuck out of the Twin Cities. People risked frostbite just to make their point. The entire country should be ashamed if they donโ€™t follow.

We Need Civil Disobedience Across America
We need civil disobedience in this country. Now.In the words of MLK Jr: โ€œInjustice anywhere is a threat to justice every We Need Civil Disobedience Across America

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

In the spirit of Dr. King, we must respond to ICE's tyranny with peaceful, mass civil disobedience across America.

I stand with the people of Minnesota and other cities across the country who are doing that today.

Not too many of us like our home being turned into a war zone on the whims of petulant racists in government.
I hate my tax dollars being used to hurt my neighbors.

The elderly person has a speech bubble saying "You're here to help?" My speech bubble says "yeah" and theirs responds "me too." The captions say "I ran into myn neighbor, who I rarely see, when several of us were keeping watch at our local elementary school. Things feel scary, but not lonely."

My contribution (a little late) to the #ICEOUT #ICEOUTMPLS comic posts. My experience with ICE in my city so far, keeping the language as vague as possible to protect the groups on the ground helping people here.

Over 1000 businesses closed protesting ICE terror, organized by labor and the community, before the stock market opens.

Over 130 actions in cities across the country, all organized in the past week.

The market may ignore it, but today is too big for the administration to brush off.

UNLOCKED Overtime Episode 43 - The General Strike in US History Pt 3 In light of the Jan 23, 2026 Twin City general strike we are unlocking this episode so people can look at another general strike in Twin City history. We start this episode off in Toledo but in the second half we look at Minneapolis. We're diving back into labor history with a return to our short series on the history of general strikes in the US. On this episode, we round out the strikes of 1934 by discussing the Toledo Auto-Lite and Minneapolis general strikes. The pitched battles fought by workers across the country terrified the ruling class into accepting some of the most pivotal labor reforms in US history. Fighting scabs, company thugs, police, and even the National Guard, workers with nothing to lose in the midst of the Great Depression struck back against their exploiters and won victories that echoed for decades. Organizing such massive endeavors is never easy or quick, but there are so many lessons we can take from our comrades of the past to help improve our efforts today.

The US is such a young country. The country that currently exists started basically in 1965. The country is and will continue to be in constant flux because there are many countries within its borders.

ICE has stopped paying for detainee medical treatment Despite ample funding, the agency halted payments in October. They may not resume for several months.

Under the law, ICE is required to provide necessary medical care for the people it detains, often using third-party providers to do so.

ICE, however, has not paid any third-party providers for medical care for detainees since October 3, 2025.

๐Ÿšจ We need just 23 Republicans to stop this madman from starting a World War. Three in the House and 20 in the Senate to join Democrats and impeach, convict, and remove Donald Trump.

Here are their names. Call them if you are a constituent.
