Ricardo Levins Morales has written a lot about how even when you're voting for a socialist, even when you get to vote your values and you win, you're always choosing your opponent in negotiating. That there is no such thing as voting for someone who will uphold every virtue every time.

How fitting that as we turn our calendar page to February, we're greeted by Ida B. Wells-Barnett. She was a major force in the founding of the NAACP, to defend the rights of African Americans.
