I’ve got these unread books. Which should I read next? Any recommendations?

Or should I do it like I did when I went to the library as a kid: bring ten books home and read a little bit of each before deciding which first?

Interesting but I don’t think I’ll bother again. A little too sour for my taste.

The most powerful story ever told, is the story we tell ourselves about ourselves.

How’s your story working for you?

Why would you do such a thing? He’s saying it’s private what was said there but it’s obvious to everyone that he’s done it to give them a big bollocking in front of the fans. Maybe Brenda should give him a bollocking on the pitch after the next poor performance 🀦

Lowe β€œheld a huddle pitch side in front of the home supporters”
β€œI want them to understand that the performance wasn’t good enough.”

Shades of Phil Brown at Hull coming into his management techniques now.

Impressive where you get all this stuff from Neil. A hat tip to you. I’ve gone for a beer with added local salt and coriander.

It doesn’t need to be about liking him but could be about not understanding what he wants them to do. Or perhaps his leadership skills are lacking IDK. Whichever way I would not be bothered in the slightest if we decided he’s the wrong choice after all.

A friend has introduced me to Lithuanian beer. I can confirm pretty much the same.

A Different Kind of Success How I Stopped Fighting My Circumstances and Wrote A Life Narrative I Could Believe In

I used to think my most pressing problems had to be solved. Nowadays I’m trying to live a full life with a new narrative: challenges as companions, not as enemies.

Minority representation on TV causes outrage

There has been widespread support for prominent Reform MP
Sarah Pochin after she complained about the over-representation of minorities on television.
Said one angry viewer, "She's right. Every time you turn on the telly there's another Reform MP being interviewed by Laura Kuenssberg."
She added, "I respect their way of life and their strange customs, but Reform MPs comprise only 0.7 percent of the House of Commons. Yet Nigel Farage is on Question Time more than Fiona Bruce."
"I'm not prejudiced. Some of my best friends are swivel-eyed loons, but enough is enough.
There are too many people with angry red faces on television.”

Gotta love Private Eye.
Always cuts through the crap.

"You don’t have to overcome your situation and you don’t have to wait for it to be resolved to choose to live as fully as you can.

Like me, your success rate for continuing on your own path is 100%. Isn’t it time you recognised that?"

Wow - those are quite phenomenal headlines given the details of the story.

Ahh look, he’s just a β€˜nerdy’ guy. No harm done.

You need to scroll down to paragraph 13 of the Sky piece to find the full story!

Ukraine's Theory of Victory A stalling Russian offensive and a stalling Russian economy

New post out from @ldfreedman.bsky.social

"Ukraine's theory of victory"

If Ukraine can't win on the battlefield can they - and their allies - undermine Russia's economy enough to force Putin's hand?

I like Jensen Weir’s performances in the last two games. He seems to suit the role he’s playing, so I’ll go for him.

Massive credit to Ryan Lowe for that win. He could have easily left Saydee up top on his own after Costello got sent off but he kept two strikers and his decision got its reward. Superb shift from all the players #wafc

How I Found Hope On The Darkest Days When everything felt impossible, focusing on the small things changed everything

β€œI compiled a mental list of ten things that had gone well that day. I did this in bed before going to sleep at night and told myself that if I could count ten things, then I’d had a good day.”

How I Found Hope On The Darkest Days When everything felt impossible, focusing on the small things changed everything

When my illness limited what I could manage, I started asking myself: β€œWhat can I do with the energy I have?”

Sometimes the answer was small β€” make a list, wash a cup, read a page.

But each small act was a vote for a better life.

I wrote about it here

I can only wish her lots of strength Neil and hope things begin to look up. If I can be of any assistance whatever let me know, even if it’s to let her know she’s not the first person to go through this.

Christ, I’m so sorry Neil. That’s awful when it happens to a young person like her. And very difficult for you and her Mum too. Is she getting the right attention from her GP?

We've had several good managers down the years and we've been lucky to have had an emotional connection to many of them. As things stand I can't say that about Ryan Lowe but to be fair, he's not really donw anything to build that connection with the fans.
