Does anyone into Horror have any recommendations for films like Creggers? I found it struck the balance of cheese and horror really well. I haven’t watched much horror at all but am keen to see if there’s anything else out there similar to Barbarian/ Weapons

It saddens me that there have been *so many* scifi stories that show how ultra-rich mega corporations can ruin society, life in general, and anything it touches, yet today some people just look at those mega corps as something to aspire to.

Finally managed to get some mates together to play some DnD. None of us have played before and I’m taking in the role of DM… this will be interesting

Guys, WEAPONS is fucking great. Zach Creggar is YOUNG which means we’ve got decades of his brilliance ahead of us. Yay!

Saw someone say, “Stop hoarding books, we don’t need paper books anyway” and I can’t express how misguided this is. Online libraries disappear, digital books can be altered, and with Big Tech seeking to destroy history and literacy, print media has never been more essential.

Be that as it may, I thoroughly enjoyed this. It has all the great things of GOTM if it falls short in one or two places. 4.25 ⭐️

1) I didn’t enjoy the Seven cities setting as much as Genabakis generally. It’s very rich and well realised but Darujistan has that je ne sais quoi. 2) The march through the desert felt a little repetitive and I did find myself losing interest through the middle portion of the book.

And just like that I have finished the second book in Malazan book of the fallen. I will admit, I didn’t love this one as much as the first one. This comes down to 2 things:

Two books in a row we’ve had an upstart noble overestimate their fighting prowess get bested in seconds against a trained fighter and both times I’ve loved it 🤣

A Malazan anime would be sick js

My last spooky read will be another Joe Hill, his yet to be released King Sorrow. There’s a lot of hype around this one, a lot of positive arc reviews and the premise sounds like something you can really sink your teeth into. I heard it’s a thick boy at a tidy 900ish pages so I’ll be doing this last

20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill. I’ve read two Hill books up to now, I loved one and thought the other was fine. Here’s hoping I enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed Heart Shaped Box.

Revival by Stephen King. Are you even doing spooky season without King? I will officially have read all the King in the house after this. That means I get to do a big book shop once I finish this, right?

The Passage by Justin Cronin. Another one that’s been languishing on the shelf for too long. The premise sounds extremely interesting!

Our Share of night by Mariana Enriquez. I’ve had this one on the shelf for a while and keep putting it off. The time is now! I found this one by asking a Waterstones employee for a horror recommendation that isn’t King and this is what they handed me. I haven’t even read the blurb!

Now it’s October there’s a chill in the air, the trees are changing colour and the evenings are getting darker. That means 3 things: mood lighting, rads on and some spooktacular reads! I have five books on my TBR I’m prioritising for this October 💙📚🩸#spookyseason

Barbarian directed by Zach Cregger is absolutely fantastic. This and Weapons are two of my favourite films I’ve watched this year. A bit gutted there’s only these two horrors he’s done so far. Excited to see a Resident Evil film in the works, I’ll be watching that in the cinema

Stopped by Forbidden Planet whilst I was in London this weekend and picked up these two books for spooky season 💙📚🩸

Saw Lion King on stage yesterday and it was amazing. Got to appreciate the props, make up and set design! As well as the exceptional performers of course. Had my eyes watering on more than one occasion
