City in Ruins by Don Winslow

Iโ€™ve been looking forward to reading this for a while. Great start so far, it reads like a film. Could definitely see this as good material for an adaptation ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š

Finished this real quick. Yeah itโ€™s weird all the way through

Very jealous! This one has been a long time coming

Stephen King is an author I feel like I appreciate more when I space out my reads. Every time I come back it takes no time at all for me to be reminded of his unique style. He has such a great narrative voice. Itโ€™s so easy to get into ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™

The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks. Only about 1/3 of the way into this one. Itโ€™s damn weird so far. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š

Children of gods and Fighting men is my favourite fantasy book Iโ€™ve read this yearโ€ฆ and Iโ€™ve read some good ones! Fantastic blend of fantasy and history. Well realised characters and compelling story. Also free on audible at the moment. Very highly recommend ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿช

They definitely are! I managed to get 2 tickets just now for ยฃ68 each. Much more sensible

Embarrassing that thereโ€™s so many NFL London tickets left. 250,000+ people in the queue for 60k capacity venue. Many fans not willing or able to pay these prices! On the other side if NFL drop prices now itโ€™s a slap in the face to those who have already bought a ticket. Not fair to anyone #NFL

Written on the stars arrived yesterday ahead of its release next week. Needless to say I started it last night and didnโ€™t get enough sleep! Absolutely loving it so far ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™

Itโ€™s a different guy! I also got this mixed up with James SA Corey, thatโ€™s how I found it. Havenโ€™t done Mercy of gods yet but I finished the Expanse last year and had a blast. Would recommend for Star Trek fans. Itโ€™s different enough but has some of that hard sci fi we all love

Empire of silence โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

The only criticism I could fathom would be that this is โ€œderivativeโ€to that I say: yeah I guess? If there was only ever original ideas published we wouldnโ€™t have that many new books published at all.

This book is flippin awesome.

Basically hate read the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn so I can appreciate James by Percival Everett even though people are saying you donโ€™t have to. Yeah thatโ€™s an afternoon I wonโ€™t get back

This was a great intro to Cosby and the genre. I thought Iโ€™d sussed it by the third chapter and was glad that I was wrong as it made it worth it. Some very good character work and compelling story. Iโ€™d recommend for fans of True Detectives tv show โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

Started Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio and is it just me or is there some GGK vibes in these prose? Might just be the narrator ๐Ÿช๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š

My first S A Cosby novel, All the sinners bleed. A compelling start, I feel like Iโ€™m going to finish this one quickly ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š

Iโ€™ve intentionally branched out and read away from reading majority fantasy this year so far and am really glad I did. So far Iโ€™ve read 2 fiction, 2 non-fiction and one fantasy. Now Iโ€™m halfway through IT by Stephen King and blasting through (did half over the weekend) ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™ ๐Ÿช๐Ÿ“š

I have this issue for sure but I try and tell myself itโ€™s a good problem to have. As long as youโ€™re enjoying what youโ€™re doing I donโ€™t think thereโ€™s such thing as too much reading!

About 2/3 of the way through a Man called Ove and hot damn this book is emotional ๐Ÿ˜ญ ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™

If you havenโ€™t carried on with Bloodsworn I am happy to say that once youโ€™ve got all the names down in Shadow of the Gods thereโ€™s no massive influx of characters in the other books. Iโ€™m hoping itโ€™s the same with FFATF

13.01.2025 12:36 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I feel like this book meandered to its conclusion and was not very satisfying, I found myself asking โ€œwhat exactly is the author trying to say here?โ€ and not really coming to any meaningful conclusion (2/2) ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™

Strange Sally Diamond โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
After a strong start I am left a little disappointed. I enjoyed the characters, more or less all are well crafted. The humour is great and the first 50% I thoroughly enjoyed the story. What brought this down for me is the direction or lack thereof. (1/2)

Yes definitely, I want to see if I feel the same way with book 2 or if doesnโ€™t have the same problems as most introductions have happened now. I have high hopes as most of my problems stem from the first 200 pages

Malice- John Gwynne โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

Bit mixed on this. A slow start and overload of POVs/ Characters made the beginning tough but after 200ish pages the book came to life. By the end I love some of the characters and am excited about continuing the series ๐Ÿช๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™
