However, critical librarianship has been coherent enough to (self-)identify work in particular areas within the field, encompassing information literacy, library instruction, Queer critiques of cataloguing and description, critical race analyses of professional power dynamics and inequalities, Marxist accounts of ideology and intellectual freedom, criticisms of library labour hierarchies, librarianship's relationship to the state, to white supremacy, to empire, to heteronormativity, patriarchy. ableism, and much else. Given the plurality and variety of its positions and approaches, what - if anything - constitutes critical librarianship?
