On wednesday the 7th, we are hosting Dimitry Kochenov for our opening seminar of the Rule of Law in crisis - series for the winter term. Dimitry will focus in his talk on 'EU Lawlessness Law'. We are greatly looking forward to that and to seeing you all!

Nevertheless, it is also necessary for judges to possess the moral and epistemic virtues that ensure their impartiality, properly understood. This requirement has implications, for the training and selection of judges and for the composition of the judiciary.

Fernando will explore the traditional ideas about judicial impartiality and the simple fact that judges obviously see and are aware of the parties involved in each legal proceeding. In his paper, Fernando will argue that this is also normatively desirable.

Next wednesday we are hosting Fernando De Los Santos Menendez (Universidad Autonoma de Madrid) for a presentation of his draft paper 'Towards an independent Judiciary - The moral and epistemic virtues that judges should display'.
