I sincerely hope by the time Parker is old enough to walk to school that this dangerous, mini-highway design of Cesar Chavez Blvd. is a thing of the past. What makes me hopeful: I spoke to a PBOT traffic engineer the other day who said they are beginning to informally discuss a 3-lane design 🤞

Cassie and I started taking singing lessons and because of that we both are massively more comfortable singing at karaoke and stuff. I actually did my first solo performance earlier this year! It was a friendly crowd and part of a talent show, but still!

Fun fact: since we were talking drains today, you can report a plugged storm drain using PDX Reporter (might help for streets unsafe to stand in). I used it a few weeks ago for a smashed traffic calming diverter sign ran over by a car (the irony!) and they were super responsive.

I actually appreciate the feedback and to be clear: I love Portland! It's much safer to be a pedestrian or biker here (in most spots) than other places I have lived. My last video was thanking the folks who created protected bike lanes on Division east of 82nd.

A few things:
- Born in Oregon, but no beef with the midwest!
- I mention land owners specifically in the video
- The City can and should make sure we do not have poles sticking in the middle of sidewalks. This is not an ADA-compliant sidewalk.

Yeah this is the west side! At the start of the video I say we're on 5th heading toward the Duniway Track. I ad-libbed this in one take and honestly the disinvestment in East Portland came to my mind and it's true, so I didn't think much of it beyond that.

Let's talk about sidewalks. Portland needs:
- More sidewalks (especially in East Portland)
- Sidewalks not to have obstructions in the middle of them
- Sidewalks to be maintained and free of debris

That is a bare minimum. We all deserve safe ways to get around our community.

Parker and I made our first visit to the ICE facility today; very quiet. Chatted with a veteran who has lived here for 35 years. Asked why he was there, he said "I believe in due process and they're not respecting that." Also said Portland needs to invest more in East Portland (he's right on both!)
