This video from Portland is a metaphor for what is going on in America. ICE trying so hard to get Americans to cross a line and if they don't, dragging them across the line and violently attacking.

Just arrived on the scene at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in South Portland. Here less than 10 minutes when agents charged out of the facility and used a pale yellow gas that caused tears and coughing in crowd members. Also shot munitions at those retreating.

Portland’s ICE building closed for 22 days this summer, but immigration arrests and detentions hardly slowed Justice Department attorneys argue the facility was “inoperable.” Some public functions were halted. Bookings were not.

Data reviewed by OPB show the DOJ's assertion that Portland's ICE building was out of commission for three weeks this summer is inaccurate.

Anyone familiar with the political culture of the Trumpian GOP will not be surprised by this reporting on today's Young Republicans, but all decent human beings will be appalled by it.

Whistling when ICE is about to kidnap someone for no reason is incredibly effective. They know what they are doing is wrong and will scatter in the wind when too many witnesses gather.

There's one huge difference between the 2025 Portland protests & the ones in 2020. Today, the ~100 anti-fascist protesters at the ICE facility are sandwiched between the feds who have MAGA-friendly media embedded w/ them, and ~15 MAGA-friendly content creators/counter-protesters out in the crowd.

This has been a big local story for us. Years of effort on the case (prosecutors withheld evidence), winning a retrial, which was then abandoned by the state. And ICE waiting to imprison him immediately on his release.
