Ha! Fair play to ya. I took a degree in science. But i'm no chemist. I then an MA in Creative Writing then a PhD on Hemingway. Basically, an about turn!

I taught Wilde and Gothic fiction. And, although i'm a writer, I'm all visual - and a huge fan of Cezanne (art and nature) ... what did you take your phd on?

One of the earliest books I read was 'The Yearling'. It was only years later that I realised Rawlings' spare prose would lead me to Hemingway and Carver. And influence how I wrote, myself. What you read you write, I suppose.
