UK suffragette Sylvia Pankhurst was a trained artist and in 1907 created several watercolours depicting women workers in factories, mills and potteries to highlight working women’s rights, their pay and conditions #WomensArt

Sylvia was disowned by her mother for giving birth out of wedlock at 45 and eventually moved to Ethiopia where she was mourned as a national hero upon her death. She’s my favourite of the Pankhursts. Adela the fascist is my least favourite.

Emmeline married a socialist but was fairly conservative herself, meanwhile her daughter Sylvia was an anti-imperialist socialist, her other daughter Adela was a fascist in Australia, and her OTHER daughter Cristabel became an evangelical Christian in America
