People are concerned boycotting US brands will put Canadians out of work. The current, short term proposal is to use tariff income to support affected workers. US companies have been shutting down Canadian businesses for decades. Support Canadian now to encourage new Canadian businesses/jobs.

Now that the US doesn't want our stuff and we don't want US stuff, maybe we need to double down on becoming more self-sufficient, both as a nation and as individuals. It's an opportunity for us all to be more mindful of our consumption of goods.

I'm loving the growing movement to buy Canadian, but buying Canadian products at Walmart or Amazon or some other US conglomerate kind of defeats the purpose.

A few decades ago, the food bank was a stop gap measure to get a few people through a difficult time. Now it's a friggin industry. That's shameful. Just like our lotteries were originally supposed to fund extra community sports and arts initiatives. Now they fund essential government operations.
