another day another group of catchments to vote for! head to the H3S website to vote for your favorite rain-dominated catchments!

I am preferential to Panola, because I think our southeastern, slightly less steep watersheds deserve some love!

pls enjoy this nearby Piedmont watershed (Talladega NF)

also life update: a lot happened in Sept…

I defended my dissertation, and got to share all the exciting things we’ve learned about small southeastern streams!

I also started as a postdoc at Oregon State! i’m stoked to work with @wardhydro.bsky.social on the role headwaters play in downstream WQ!

we used a network (deep!) groundwater and surface water monitoring wells to measure hydrologic state, and seasonal surveys to quantify network expansion and contraction.

+a huge thank you to our coauthor team @floodhydrology.bsky.social @drarialshogren.bsky.social & Alain Plattner and Sarah Godsey

Using Hydrogeomorphic Features to Quantify Structural and Functional Hydrologic Connectivity in a Coastal Plain Headwater Stream Hydrogeomorphic features provide a key framework to study streamflow generation along the river corridor Across the study watershed, hydrogeomorphic features demonstrated distinct patterns of gro...

super excited to share that my first dissertation chapter is out in WRR!

here, we operationalize the river corridor of a headwater Coastal Plain network into hydrogeomorphic features to characterize hydrologic connectivity across dimensions

Mobile Bay Has More Branching Brooks Than Shown on Federal Maps - Eos A more accurate charting of the full extent of stream networks will help land managers better protect U.S. creeks and rivers.

.@thatsmedelp.bsky.social & others show stream networks in the Mobile Bay watershed are much more complex than shown in USGS maps. πŸ§ͺ

had an wonderful time at #AGU24! I had the awesome opportunity to present my first dissertation chapter in the long-standing CZ session (preprint available here: doi.org/10.31223/X5M...) and think about how our perceptual model of Coastal Plain hydrology fits into the larger picture ...
