Is science political? Should scientists advocate? How should we do science communication when pseudoscience and anti-science are official government practices?
Come hear my Stephen Schneider Memorial Lecture at AGU's annual convention in Washington, Wednesday Dec. 11. 2pm.

@agu.org Iβm not sure if itβs possible to do this last minute, but could you remove X as the default platform for posting on the #agu24 app?
Aside from all the issues with the platform, we arenβt there anymore. Weβre here!

Warmer winters are fuelling a growth in algal blooms across the Great Lakes
Algal blooms are typically associated with summer weather but warmer winters caused by climate change are resulting in blooms appearing more frequently, and for longer periods.
Ontario is having a colder winter this year. Maybe good for our 2025 blooms.. when winters are warmer it releases all the bound phosphorus in soils and without any crops to take them up it runs off to our lakes patiently waiting for the temperatures to warm
