It’s an All Star Game.

A meaningless, fun game that’s the cherry on top of a week meant to highlight and celebrate the league, its fans, its culture, and the host city.

The idea that it should be more than that (which it’s never been) is how you end up w/that clusterfuck that tonight was.

It’s dumbfounding that the NBA continues to try and make the All Star Game more than what it is. It’s not a serious game, never has been, and never will be.

You already have the NBA cup and the Play In.

Trying to make an exhibition game serious is just dumb.

There’s just not a lot of avenues to significantly improve this team, the last gasp was the Harden trade so here we are with a muted trade deadline.

The Clippers plan the moment George walked was for them to be competent, and wait out the debts that they owe to OKC, PHI, etc in regards to draft assets.

Clips thoughts

Potential Amir regression + Dunn being ice cold + Terance Mann not finding it + Drew Eubanks being the back up 5 has the Clippers feeling DANGEROUSLY thin and putting a TON of pressure on their 4 best players with little margin for error.

But on some level this was to be expected.

Top 5 defender in the sport. Big Zu.

The team has a culture and infrastructure to compete defensively w/o Dunn, albeit to your point Dunn is one of the best defenders in the sport.

The Clippers sat a ton of players Wed vs BOS, and the Celtics had Jayson Tatum and Jaylen brown.

Despite that,the Clippers posted a DRTG of 108.3 vs Boston.

The Clippers are legitimately the second best defense I the sport w/a real defensive culture.

Will be tested tonight.

Chance for the Clippers to get a rather, loud win today. Kawhi kind of now has his feet under him. Bucks have won 8 of 9.

Halfway through the season and the LA Clippers have the 2nd best defense in basketball.

Now is not the time to get your stupid political takes off about Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom.

Really think this juncture of the season may make or break the Clippers.

Even prior to the postponement of game(s) there’s been some serious slippage on both sides of the ball, and they’re integrating Kawhi back into the mix.

Out of 94 players with 500+ min, he's 12th in FGA per 100 with 7.7 within 4-14ft.

Out of those same 94 players, without any vol qualifiers, he's 10th in FG%. Out of 37 with at least 5, he's 4th. Higher than Jokic btw.

Ivica Zubac is shooting 53% on paint non rim shots.

League avg in this area is 43%

Low hanging fruit for LAC to exploit, getting Zu more shot attempts in the paint. It’s money.

Employing Julius Randle will do that to a fanbase and I’m so serious.

There’s just no way I would have believed that these Clippers would be playing at a near 50 win pace through thanksgiving.

Speaks volumes.

Defense travels. Really have enjoyed the way the Clippers have operated this year. Rock solid with their principles this season.

There’s little in the way of upside with this current roster, but there’s power in certainty. You know they’re gonna defend, JH/Zu PnR, etc.

Just a good team, man.

The Clippers are…not bad? Good win last night. Solid crowd. Their competence this season has surprised me.

Harden’s floor raising >

Really hope that as the season progresses, we see more and more of James Harden’s passing being optimized more out of elbow entry, blocking catches, etc instead of so many top of the key PnR’s and him out of 21 series, Chicago, etc

Simultaneous actions w/multiple options breeds confusion with the defense.

Clips have gotten the DJ lob quite a few times off of this and a Norm lay attempt out of this.

1) Look for the Norm lay 1st
2) back screen lob for DJ
3) Norm back for a look off the Zu screen.

.500 after 14 games is a bit better than I expected. Baseline level of competency is there. The Harden scoring piece is the bellwether.

Caring about the All Star game like this is so funny lol it's like a premier issue for the league and ISTG i find that so funny.

Kris Dunn amplifies just about everything LAC wants to do on both ends and may very well be the 2nd best screener and short roll passer on the team as a guard.

Getting Dunn in Short roll has been money for the Clippers.

Just picture perfect ball denial. Blowing up the DHO, using your IQ and wingspan to get in the passing lane...
Little things like this are why he's a +/- superstar for the Clippers and why he's a starter for them now.
