Can’t believe I missed this story!

Space missions are still going, because celestial mechanics wait for no man. Europa Clipper flew by Mars on its way to Jupiter and got some great science data. The spacecraft will get to Jupiter no matter what. Here's hoping there are still workers on Earth ready to discover what it finds there.

All the data from Mars Global Surveyor and all of NASA's other deep-space missions was bought and paid for by the public. Collected, validated, processed, and analyzed by federal workers or researches funded by federal grants. And is archived on public servers maintained by federally funded workers.

Neat! NASA just released a thermal image of Mars taken by the Jupiter-bound Europa Clipper spacecraft. Their story is here; I'll provide some context in following posts.
