Yesterday, we recognized April 2025 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Travis County. I'm grateful for all of our partners from around the county working to end child abuse. We strive to ensure families have what they need to thrive — when families have what they need, kids are safer.

Measles cases are rising across Texas. Please check that your vaccines are up to date and effective, and vaccinate your children as recommended by their healthcare provider. This is important to keeping newborn children in our community safe.

Since Travis County launched the pilot six months ago, our Hospital-based Violence Intervention Program has treated over 350 victims of violence, including 15% related to gun violence. HVIPs help stop the cycle by supporting victims and preventing retaliatory violence.
