Tears of artificial lights give the world a false life lie
Adrift in deep space this capsule becomes my cage
No matter the distance I’ll hold onto your tether tight
No gulf or galaxy could untangle our entwined fates
Twinkling starlight in your eyes the only way I cope
If only to bask in your light I will last one cycle more
Fingers frostbitten heart in stasis frozen to the core
Huddled round a lonely fire to give each other hope
Dark deep nights are numbed by interminable waits
I’ll see the dawn don’t dare disappear into the night
Repeating ripple patterns, rise and fall another age
Fearful flickers of the cycle flood in but I cannot cry

Magic Lamp

If I had a magic lamp with a genie
My wishes wouldn’t be all that much
Don’t want power nor money as such
Simple they may be, my wishes three
First I’d wish for a normal girl’s body
Not to be born wrong from the start
Not forced to play the wrong part
Not hamstrung by my body so shoddy
Next I’d wish I could ever be enough
For those who I love and love me back
For what they deserve I severely lack
For they deserve someone half as rough
Lastly I’d wish for a world that’s fair
I know it’s a tall order and complicated
But all my selfish wishes are sated
And for fame or glory I don’t care
All I want is not to be at odds with life
To be able to live out dreams now gone
Not to mourn where once my light shone
Not to stumble and think of grabbing a knife
I love my community but the fight is draining
A normal happy life was never on the table
I was born to be miserable and unstable
Before I ever got started my light was waning
Maybe I ought to be grateful for what I’ve got
I’ve got friends and family who I cherish
Who’d be distraught if from this I perish
Still I’ll always wonder what if I had my shot
Deciding to post some poetry to kick off this account, not going in any particular order, but this is something from around the same time last year 🙃
