Blue box with quote saying β€œFossil fuel companies like Exxon cannot be trusted with people or the planet and yet political leaders have abdicated responsibility and let this firm dictate what happens. Big business is setting the agenda and trampling over workers and communities and our elected politicians are afraid to stand up to them.”

Exxon mobil announced the early closure of the Fife Ethylene plant at Mossmorran.

This is a yet another example of the political failure to properly plan a transition for workers and communities.

The extent of the Epstein scandal is grotesque.

Many of the world’s business, political and royal elites were associating with, working on behalf of, and/or taking money from a convicted paedophile. The other abusers, his β€˜friends’, remain free.

Where is the accountability? Where is the justice?

I don’t have a lot of time for politicians who suddenly care about the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ people twice a year.

Especially when they have done everything in their power to damage it, either collectively or to specific individuals, for years now…

Your tokenistic posts on social media mean little.

Parents tell us the Scottish Child Payment makes a real difference to their lives - it helps them afford basic essentialsβ€―like food, energy bills, nappies, and children’s clothes. And we see this impact reflected in the latest figures on child poverty in Scotland too (🧡1/4)

βš–οΈ Will Dundee's decision makers declare a housing emergency and adopt the Dundee Housing Emergency Coalition's Housing Emergency Action Plan?

Scottish Greens rekindle ties with Zack Polanski’s party after trans‑rights split THE Scottish Greens have rekindled ties with Zack Polanski’s party after a previous split on transgender rights.

As the person who brought the motion to suspend ties in 2022, I fully support this move.

Huge thanks to fellow @sgprainbowgreens.bsky.social and @queerscot.bsky.social for their work in making this happen and to @zackpolanski.bsky.social for his leadership.

Heavy rain and wind warning as schools closed and roads flooded A yellow warning of rain remains in place for a wide area of Scotland until midnight on Friday.

Severe flooding is becoming more common, especially in Aberdeenshire and Angus. Having visited homes in the latter that routinely flood, I know how devastating this is for people.

We need more nature-based solutions, from mountainside to seaside, for water management.

Majority of Scots oppose new North Sea drilling research finds New research suggests more than half of Scots oppose new oil and gas drilling in the North Sea, including close to 50 in the north-east

⚑️Scots are ahead of politicians - 57% oppose new oil & gas drilling.

3 in 4 under-35s want renewables instead.
Even in the North East, nearly half say no to new drilling.

People want clean energy jobs, not more delay.

🧡 Trump’s Greenland brinkmanship puts the EU’s Anti-Coercion Instrument back on the table. Few cases fit economic coercion more cleanly.

But the ACI is often misunderstood. It’s not a bazooka, but a slow-loading cannon, able to fire anything from heavy shells to hot air. Here’s how it works ⬇️

Brussels hold’em: European cards against Trumpian coercion – European Council on Foreign Relations Faced with an aggressive United States, Europe has more leverage than it realises. Across trade, technology, infrastructure, finance and people-to-people relati

[1/6] A reminder: Europe has cards to use against the US. Lots of them.

To cite some examples:

- Tighten screws on US digital giants (taxes, fines, even bans)
- Export taxes disrupting US supply chains eg pharma
- Exclude US firms from European procurement, inc defence

The EU and UK’s policy towards the Trump administration has been pathetic.

High tariffs on all our goods entering the US market are now inevitable. All that grovelling has delivered nothing.

Collectively, we need to come together to defend Greenland and each other.

I’ve been called this for years, usually by younger queer folk. It’s an affectionate/respectful/playful thing, no?

It needs to be a joined up plan that includes energy, agriculture, buildings, transport, and much more.

A plan that creates new jobs, especially in the North East, Grangemouth, and Fife where people are already losing their livelihoods.

I hope party manifesto’s include an ESJTP worth the paper it’s written on.

For that to be the case, we need more community and public ownership in energy infrastructure, we need more revenue raising powers, and we need sustained investment in energy efficiency measures to reduce fossil fuel demand.

14.01.2026 18:46 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

All of the above needs to change and fast.

Government at all levels must intervene instead of leaving our transition to corporate giants and market-forces.

We’ve been waiting years for the Scottish Government’s Energy Strategy and Just Transition Plan (ESJTP). This isn’t good enough.
