Faroe Islands scraps one of Europe's strictest abortion laws Politicians in the self-governing Danish territory have voted to overturn legislation which banned abortion in most cases.

Some good news from our northern neighbours.

This is a welcome step for women’s rights, the right to bodily autonomy and safe, secure abortions in the Faroe Islands.

We’ve joined over 50 organisations and public figures backing @togetheralliance.bsky.social against the far-right.

🚨 Rising far-right narratives threaten cohesion and safety. Solidarity is critical to challenge prejudice and protect everyone’s right to live without fear.

Wow, the anti-migrant protest leaders in Aberdeen are incredibly dangerous. This is white supremacy, and it is alive and well in Scotland. #Disclosure

Alongside others, I attended the #WorldAIDSDay vigil in Aberdeen today.

We remembered those we’ve lost and recommitted ourselves to ending stigma and loving and supporting friends, family, and neighbours living with HIV.

Thank you to Four Pillars for hosting and organising.

On St Andrew’s Day we marched against racism and fascism.

Alongside fellow trade unionists, environmentalists, and activists campaigning for equality, peace, and freedom, we rejected bigotry and hate. Aberdeen’s diverse communities united.

The headwinds for Mossmorran were clear. That's why in 2022 we commissioned a report looking in depth at future options, followed by summits with trade unions. Governments needed to act much earlier.

Now we need to see real investment in the future of the site and the workforce.

The far-right in Aberdeen really are pathetic.

Threatening council staff when they were putting up Christmas lights last week, followed by 25 weirdos intimidating parents, teachers, and bairns outside Seaton Primary School today.

Asylum seekers and migrants aren’t the problem; bigotry is.

Dana Petroleum has been contracted by the Israeli govt. to explore gas off the coast of Gaza, in waters internationally recognised as Palestinian.

Israel is making huge profits - whilst Palestinians continue to suffer from occupation and violence.

Budget cuts are ripping the heart out of Dundee and Angus college - principal Dundee and Angus College faces Β£2.5m of cuts, including withdrawing from its Arbroath sporting campus.

The 20% real terms cut in funding our colleges have endured over the last 5 years has been devastating.

Our colleges are important working-class institutions, crucial to our economy, society, and a truly just transition.

Funding cuts must be reversed.

Stop blaming refugees... for problems caused by billionaires. Scottish Greens.

Migrants didn't cut council funding.
Migrants didn't raise energy bills.
Migrants didn't close community centres.

Know what would help solve Scotland’s problems? Taxing the super-rich and building an affordable country for all.

I was lost for words yesterday during Trans Day of Remembrance. The EHRC guidance, transphobic but also deeply misogynistic, and the Herald political awards… the timing was something.

Warm words won’t cut it. People in positions of power need to take action.

In the UK, the single leading cause of death for men under 50 is suicide.

Three-quarters of all suicides in the UK are by men. This issue needs to be taken more seriously.

Vulnerability is not weakness. Open up and talk. End the stigma.

Grabbing the wedding ring off a man’s finger or stealing a woman’s jewellery will not pay for immigration accommodation.

Are we really going to let the UK government, the Labour Party, enshrine theft into law? Is that who we are?

If you want refugees to pay for things, give them the right to work.

Renewables employment is dominated by small firms, often sole traders.

Fewer Scots work in wind than energy efficient products.

Bosses of Scotland's smallest councils to get huge pay rises The chief executive of Scotland's smallest council will get Β£32,000 extra next year, a 24% rise.

These pay rises are a slap in the face at a time when local services are being cut and many staff are struggling on low pay.

The pay disparities between council CEOs and frontline workers are huge. We should be narrowing the gap, not expanding it.

North-east Scotland lacks 'coherent' just transition plan University of Aberdeen warns of job loses and 'missed opportunities' without urgent action.

The lack of a coherent transition plan is creating unnecessary job losses and low public confidence, and our communities are losing out.

Four years ago the Scottish government committed to co-design just transition plans, but since then, nothing. We need action.

I’m very proud of my friend Matt who did his first performance at this great event. He absolutely rocked it. All the performers were brilliant.
