Bring back the war on Christmas you Mariah Carey loving fucks. Michael Myers is not even cold in the ground yet you're caroling? The leaves haven't even started falling from the trees yet. Keep it in your damn PANTS until DECEMBER

I feel like we owe Kojima an apology because he’s like β€œThis is my villain, Corrupto Moneyguy. He controls the media and eats children.” As it turns out, this is a nuanced and accurate view of global politics.

Cigarettes used to be cheap enough that you could give a whole pack out to each trick or treater instead of just one or two loosies. Failed fucking empire

My short list of retro video game content creators who aren't trash is getting alarmingly small

Harry Potter was one of my highest in terms of views and earnings on the channel so If I can give it up, for the sake of those most disparaged, so can you.

Stardew Valley, supreme ruler of cozy games, made sure to have dungeons full of monsters, interpersonal conflicts/struggles and the looming threat of corporate capitalism as a contrast to the general 'pleasantness' of the people and village to make that pleasantness actually *hit.*

(Yeah yeah there's Firelink too in DS1 and DS3, but in DS1 Firelink everyone eventually leaves or dies and it's left with this uncanny, almost threatening empty feeling and in DS3 everyone is miserable all the time. The people you gather in Majula are friendly and often content or outright hopeful!)

My personal coziest place is gaming is probably Majula in Dark Souls II, not because it's *that* lovely a village but because it's one of very few honestly pleasant places in an entire series of otherwise hostile locales.

"Blankets are only cosy when it's cold outside" finally puts into words why 'cozy' games feel so vapid and do so little for me.

If *everything's* lovely things don't feel cozy, they feel trite, sickly and sanitised.

I write middle-grade whodunnits, so you might want to dismiss my opinion out of hand. But I think cosy games/crime sometimes miss the fact that blankets are only cosy when it's cold outside. A world without conflict / a story without stakes isn't cosy, it's just safe.

We need to talk about the cozyfication of games because it’s a serious disease, possibly as bad as the edgyfication of the 90s and the grittyfication of the 00s.

Why Wikipedia editors have deleted entries from the β€œList of unusual deaths”:

recently discovered that wikipedia volunteers have a hilariously high bar for what constitutes "unusual death"

Looney Tunes remained popular for decades precisely because it was airing in widespread syndication on TV all the time. Old cartoons should be FREE to find new audiences, ESPECIALLY when their rights holders don't even care enough to platform them anymore.

I love living in a country where the law about what bathroom I can use is genuinely UNKNOWABLE, it’s like something from a Joseph Heller novel

Yeah it's hard to be like "its 100 dollars for hundreds hours!" but how many of those hours are naturalistic and how many of them are perverse retention mechanisms??

24.10.2025 13:45 β€” πŸ‘ 113    πŸ” 18    πŸ’¬ 13    πŸ“Œ 0

The 100 dollar game thing is always wild cause like what do you think is gonna happen? Games are gonna be bigger? There will be less microtransactions? Developers will be treated any better?

because lol exactly 0 of those things are gonna happen

parents, please keep an eye on your children's sweets this halloween. I was just reading on whatsapp that a child from the area arrived home with an innocent-seeming pack of haribo that turned out to be full of photofits of the infamous yorkshire ripper.

the term "ladies and gentlemen" was adopted to greet a wide gathering of people for a performance or event and became common parlance as a result. "hello chat" is the modern equivalent and serves the same linguistic purpose. in this essay I will
