That's the best way. And I did manage some personal documentation which I'd completely misunderstood in the morning, having tried to fill in the wrong form, so that's something.

The best part of Harlan Ellison's Doctor Who essay is that Pinnacle Books censored one line and one line only of Harlan's submitted draft dated Nov. 1, 1978. A dig at Anita Bryant at the height of her pernicious political influence in the States.

Indeed. Trump as 'mad king' misrepresents George III by parallel, but that runs deep in American political culture - better and rhetorically more powerful to let a king be blamed than a parliament, perhaps, in 1776.

Corn Flakes, Stuck Culture, & the wrong type of undead It started off, as these things tend to do, as a light-hearted thread on BlueSky initiated by writer Ray Newman about Sainsbury’s slightly otherworldly Corn Flakes packaging design from the 1970s, whi...

I just received an email from the designer's brother-in-law so I've updated my blog post to credit them by name:

Opinion: What Britain’s first Asian prime minister meant to my family | CNN The defeat of the ConservativeΒ PartyΒ in the UK electionΒ ends Rishi Sunak’s two-year premiership.Β Does it also sour the story of Britain’s first Asian prime minister, asks Sunder Katwala.

Dad was thrilled when Sunak became PM having come in 1968

He nearly cast a sympathy vote for him in defeat in July 2024 - he felt somebody should - but decided it wasn't the right reason to vote for the first Indian PM when country needed a change of governing party

I write academic and popular works of television criticism. The Written Archive has been an invaluable source for my research on Doctor Who and Blake's 7. I had plans for a work on the groundbreaking multiethnic 1970s series Gangsters, which it will be much harder to do without the Archives.

Historians dismayed by β€˜scandal’ of BBC cutting access to... Critics say new limit to trove of information sounds knell for independent research

For reasons, it would be v. helpful to have information from a broad range of academic and non-academic (incl. GLAM) users of the BBC Written Archives OTHER THAN historians, briefly on: 1) What you've used it for and 2) How the proposed changes would impact on your research.

Reposts welcomed.

Sed contra: Advent is traditionally a time for contemplating death, judgement, heaven, and hell, and thus a Kendal Mint Cake Advent Calendar is far more seemly than most of the β€œlittle treat” type of Advent Calendars.

This is very cool as a visual and also yes I agree that a whole lot of people have not/do not want to realise this. It will reduce traffic to the busiest area, thereby reducing traffic in the β€˜thru’ zones, without reducing access TO the β€˜thru’ zones
