13.12.2024 02:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Read the Gladiator 2 script before watching the movie, and it made the watching experience much more interesting.
I enjoyed noticing the differences between the script and the movie, things that were omitted, added, scenes and characters that played out differently.

Itβs not a writing book but has taught me a lot developing characters.
Let's create a Reading List for Screenwriters thread.
So, what're your go-to essential books on screenwriting and storytelling? #scriptsky
I'll kick things off with:
Where are my non-linear screenwriting peeps? Time travel and jumps? Time loops? Alternate universes? Multiple, weaving storylines? I find people either 'get it' or they don't.
28.11.2024 15:57 β π 17 π 2 π¬ 10 π 0Is there a market for the solarpunk sf genre? Itβs a genre thatβs barely 15ish years old and focused on sustainability/green energy. Itβs def utopian, but very anti-capitalist
28.11.2024 22:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As a SF writer, I think the biggest challenge (from a technical pov) is creating your own worlds and keeping to those worlds values/social norms. Itβs my favorite part but itβs a lot more work than writing a story set in our world. I also hear (a lot) that SF scripts donβt sell/are too $$ to make.
28.11.2024 21:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In terms of pages/words definitely scripts.

27.11.2024 05:01 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Is to have less and less labor to pay. If they want to make 200 sequels of the terminator, I say let them. Audiences are gonna move else where and the big studios are digging their own grave.
27.11.2024 04:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm not arguing for them. They do not own our minds and voice. But if you SELL a script to a studio and the contract doesnβt say it canβt be used to train AI, they legally can and will. Hollywood like any business in capitalizm wants to maximize profits and the easiest way to do thatβ¦
27.11.2024 04:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0once again: βwhy would anyone bother to read something nobody bothered to writeβ
26.11.2024 19:34 β π 31 π 4 π¬ 4 π 0US Govt: Aliens might be real, yβall.
Sci-Fi Writers:
Itβs a tough issue bc legally the scripts belong to the studios, they also own the IP. That means we need to include more legal jargon to protect our future scripts from being feed to AI models.
