Spicomellus might win for best weird thyreophoran, i love it! The big neck spines remind me of the anti-predation collars worn by flock guardian dogs--they definitely seem like they'd be effective deterrents to bites to the neck from taller predators 🤔

Considering the number of isolated crest specimens, i have to wonder if there are any enigmatic 'leaf' fossils that are actually drepanosauromorph flaps 🤔

Oh sure, those guys will run with any scrap they think is evidence for their side. But we don't have to pay attention to them :>

At the very least, the actual authors of the paper aren't arguing for that and point out that the structures are not at all feather-like. Based on the title alone I was concerned too lol, but no, birds are still dinosaurs

Hey folks, i know it's been a while since i last posted; mostly been busy with things that don't quite fit here... but! i sat in on a video call discussing sauropods this weekend, and felt compelled to doodle some of the topics that came up--such as how sauropods managed to get any sleep
