It sure seems like when we have our basic needs met, and don't have to hustle to survive, humans will almost always choose to create art.

And there is a lot of evidence that when a society decides to honor and promote art and artists, everyone who lives there is measurably happier.

The press corps has not made a major story out of the fact that Trump is burning up the middle class because it’s the middle class that’s getting burned up. Media companies are satisfied with stories that wonder. It’s only a definitive tax story if a Dem wants corporations to pay their fair share.

Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson has passed away at the age of 84. My thoughts are with his family.

I wanted to share this clip from his appearance on Sesame Street in 1971. His important words ring just as true today as they did back then.

“I am somebody” shaped how millions of us saw ourselves as kids, including me. That message mattered. It still does.
