And being a shared thing, it lives beyond one blogger’s seasons of having time to post. It is ever renewed by the body civic.
I really am starting to sound like Haber (on one topic), but I think there’s a difference between the Internet and extremely rare real estate.

I don’t know if this is even much of a reach beyond the spirit of Damn Arbor or Ann Arbor AF; everyone seems very willing to include others who have something to say, but it’s still someone else’s space you have to ask to share.

Huron students writing about their dangerous bike ride to school, Mega Michelle’s council notes, Dan Adams on the Library Lot, not as a guest but as a co-author.
Not that Damn Arbor wouldn’t welcome them, but it seems a lot to ask (of him) to share it since it’s his now.

BCB’s already doing his part, but I think the “blog blog” idea is a bit bigger. Lots of authors with equal ownership. More people contributing and sharing with their own crowd.

I have hesitated to even bring it up, in part because @damnarbor.bsky.social &c exist and it feels rude to say, sure, thanks for informing us for years, but we are gonna do that same thing over here.

Ironically, I think it’s “commoning,” but a blog.

Okay, I thought maybe I missed the moment when @mkramer.bsky.social was learning about Ann Arbaugh, but: is this the right time to pitch an AnnArblogblog? I don’t think I have enough thoughts or time for a whole blog, but I feel like I could be part of a blogblog.

I just wrote a whole paragraph about Plymouth & Nixon, where the bike lane ends and you just get squished in the car lane, in a survey about Idaho stops this morning.
Hadn’t noticed your stretch b/c I’m always busy annoying drivers in the left turn lane to head out Scio Church.

My rough go has been announced to most people I know IRL (3-year-old has cancer) and it sucks, but it comes with the silver lining of finding out just how many people care and truly want to help.
I hope more people’s rough go helps them find their village.

One, yes, but the marginal utility curves cross somewhere around 3.

Fixing all of this is frankly going to call for a lot of jury nullification

Meanwhile it’s worse than a 4-door sedan at carrying people and their stuff. SIL just had to drive 3 campers and their chaperone to the airport in an Armada (rental) and some luggage had to ride in the back seat with the kids. She said a Camry would have been much better at the task.

It assumes Rs will retain 33%+ of seats in the Senate. We’d need a bunch of states to remove themselves Civil War-style to change that.

Hey, my 3-year-old has cancer, and I’ve been using this chart to remind him to drink more Gatorade for months. You’re doing great!

To engage with these people and hold any of them to any thing they’ve ever said is to learn that there was No True Advocate for Prop A

In Ann Arbor they are running a pilot (maybe just a program by now?) with free portable bathrooms downtown, but to unlock them you need to go get an unlock code from an office (that would have to be open at the time)… or use a cell phone. They’re mandatory now!

Been planning to toss one more Nextdoor post into the gyre wherein I point out, based on this slide, that LGC should be championing the proposals, claiming victory, and asking for 2018 apologies if they really wanted a great commons and not just to obstruct.

In my Driver Form, one of the most dangerous things about me is when I worry about how much consideration is too much to give bikes and pedestrians without enraging the drivers behind me (or without making myself assume the drivers behind me are enraged).

They should absolutely change their laws about redistricting, preapprove a new map that they can adopt at a moment’s notice so they can’t get got by a last-minute special session. CA should be a loaded gun.

My 3-year-old has cancer so we’ve been doing a LOT of sitting in hospital rooms and he gets whatever we can reasonably give him to make up for all the everything, but at this point I’m almost as concerned about the effects of vertical YouTube videos as Neuroblastoma.

Were there a lot of “One weird trick” jokes in 2018? I keep thinking about how somebody thought of/sold Prop A to the antis as one weird trick to obstruct development, and I can’t believe they’re surprised that it was not a permanent success.

I had a whole reply to this typed, but I just closed it and went on with my day. If you’re making the argument, “no voter was relying on our promises that we made in a debate intended to persuade voters,” then I’m probably not making a dent with any response.

I think that’s right. It’s literally fabricating. It always is, but when it fabricates untrue things, that’s what we call lying.
